But it all goes back to the month of May of last 2021. It was then that the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas approved the contracting file for the tender for the works of extension of the dock of the commercial dock in Puerto del Rosario. Against an initial budget of 30.83 million euros, the final award was for the Temporary Union of Companies formed by Rover Maritime S.L. and Satocan for a total of 25.76 million in January 2022.
The forecast for the execution period had been 17 months, so the most optimistic calculations estimated the completion of the works in December 2023. However, the viability of the project is on hold. Sources from the Port Authority confirm that the work is in question, given that the award had been made with pre-war prices.
For their part, technical and business sources assure that the project would have been completely lost after this vicissitude, which is sometimes insurmountable for many companies in the present war context. The rise in prices has made many reconsider readjusting their numbers within the framework allowed by law for each specific case.
