Volcanic activity in Canary Islands 2020
There has been a bad landside in La Gomera think it was due to the rainfall.

''New seismic swarm at the Vieja Summit volcano (La Palma, Canary Islands). From 5:12 hours (Canary Islands time) today November 21, 2020, the Canary Islands Network operating the Volcanological Institute of Canary Islands (INVOLCAN) is recording a new swarm of small seismic Events, under the Old Summit volcano, depths of around 30 km. So far more than 50 Events have been detected, the maximum magnitude of which has been 1,2. The epicentres of the 4 strongest earthquakes of this swarm compared to the localized seismicity of the latter are shown in red color 3 years old (in color black).

Remember the difference between detected and localized seismic Events. A detected seismic event may not be located as it is too weak to be recorded at least 3 seismic stations. Therefore, the number of seismic Events detected is usually always higher than the number of localized seismic Events.
This new seismic swarm poses no danger given its depth as well as its low magnitude, nor does a change in the activity of the Old Summit Volcano in the short to medium term.

From INVOLCAN, you will continue to be informed about the evolution of this new seismic enjmabre in the Volcano Old Summit.''

''NEW DEEP SYMIC FARMIC ON LA PALMA ISLAND, CANARIAS, SPAIN.- 21/11/2020.-While IGN has only located so far 2 Events, the Involcan is already 13, in your latest update 5 hours ago, making a notorious difference as far as the flow of information is concerned and who shows real interest in the matter. Although looking at the spectrogram, you can see many more signs, I leave the piece where you can tell the most, each vertical line of the spectrogram is an Earthquake.

That something happens under the island of La Palma , that's for sure, deep seismicity indicates the beginning of a new cycle of activity that seems that this time if you move forward with firm step, and that surely evolves over time, with more tremors frequent and stronger as the material makes way to the surface, where it doesn't always reach, it only does in 10 % of cases, the rest remains without erupting. It gets very interesting. (Enrique)

''And in Tenerife, the tremors continue over the past two weeks, perfectly marking major activity areas - which match just the accumulations of magma or magmatic cameras) from Teide, Ucanca's boiler and the Vilaflor area on the island... and even the Volcano of Enmedio and the area that separates it from the island. A swarm of 50 small earthquakes is concentrated in the Cumbre Vieja area

Specialists relate these tremors to gaseous processes and magmatic movement

Ramon Perez

The active volcanic building of Cumbre Vieja, to which the historical eruptions of Teneguía, San Juan or San Antonio belong, continues to shake the subsoil of the island of La Palma with different episodes of swarms that left more than 50 small earthquakes in the last day .

Specialists relate these small tremors to gaseous processes and the overpressure due to the movement of magmatic material in the upper part of the mantle, which is revealed by breaks in the material at these depths and is recorded by the different seismic detection equipment located on the Island. .

Thus, since 5:12 am yesterday, Saturday, November 21, the Canary Islands Seismic Network operated by the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN) is registering a new swarm of small-magnitude seismic Events, under the Cumbre Vieja volcano, at depths of about 30 kilometers.

The maximum magnitude detected was 1.2 degrees on the Richter scale, according to Involcan
During the first part of the day, more than 50 Events were detected, the maximum magnitude of which was 1.2 degrees on the Richter scale. From INVOLCAN they have wanted to remember the difference between detected and localized seismic Events. A detected seismic event may not be located since it is too faint to be recorded in at least three seismic stations. Therefore, the number of seismic Events detected is usually always higher than the number of localized seismic Events.

In the same way, they emphasize that this new seismic swarm does not pose any danger given its depth, as well as its low magnitudes, nor a change in the activity of the Cumbre Vieja volcano in the short and medium term.

This is the fifth episode of this type that occurs in the last three years, after those registered in October 2017, February 2018, July and October 2020, which leave a “very low” possibility of an eruption in the short term in the area, as highlighted by the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands.

INVOLCAN highlights that active volcanic systems, throughout their geological history, experience several eruptive cycles and each of them are characterized by four phases.
In the case of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, this active volcanic system experienced seven eruptive cycles during the last 550 years, with these episodes being recorded among the 16 historical eruptions that occurred in the Canary Islands.

Since the end of the post-eruptive phase linked to the Teneguía eruption in 1971, the Cumbre Vieja volcano has been in an inter-eruptive phase, a phase that it has been enjoying for more than 48 years.

It is striking that the seismic surveillance systems of the National Geographic Institute only record two small earthquakes in the vicinity of the island of La Palma in the same INVOLCAN reporting period.

More specifically located in the municipalities of Villa de Mazo and El Paso, they had intensities of 2.0 and 2.2 Richter degrees, respectively, and were located at depths of 33 and 34 kilometers...

'' DEEP SYSMIC SWEEP ON LA PALMA ISLAND - CONTINUATION.- POST OF DATA REVISED BY IGN.- CANARIAS, SPAIN.- 23/11/2020.-IGN has not put any notes or information on recently located activity on the island of La Palma, but it has relocated 2 earthquakes and located 12 new in deferred, total 14 earthquakes on La Palma Island two days ago, 13 in the South of the Island and one more in the North, and seeing its line-up, you see two things clearly.

The first is a line-up of earthquakes or earthquakes going from East to West, forming a fault, which is clearly moving these days judging by GPS data, so that the northern portion of the island moves westward and the South portion would move eastward relatively, although the deformation is minimum, of approximately 1 cm, little relevant and that will have to be confirmed with more data, although the general trend indicates so.
The second and most interesting is the disposition of earthquakes, where you can draw a diagram at 120 or with the alignments of earthquakes that cross exactly where a lone Earthquake is located in an asismic area, east of the San Volcano Martin almost in the center of the Dorsal of the Volcano Old Summit. Curiosity or not, it is the typical pattern of a magmatic camera, where seismicity occurs around it and the output conduit in its center... book, and that personally did not expect to find when doing these tests ...

In short, what all this seems to indicate is that we have a process of magmatic intrusion under the island of La Palma and that a reservoir or magmatic camera could be forming about 33-35 km if we consider IGN data, which is not correct in depth, as they use a seismic model of terrain densities too dense that makes earthquakes deeper, I estimate that will be between 18 and 14 km real depth, as already happened in 2011 in the iron eruption where as earthquakes walked away from the island, they were deeper, indicating this anomaly in the model, which incidentally has not been remedied.
NOTE: There are several earthquakes left to locate by IGN in swarm around 11:41 h and after the swarm of before yesterday, as one at 15:52 h before yesterday, or as one very clear from yesterday at 00:55 h or even one today at 15:53 that looks perfectly.

EDITED: NOTE2: Also it looks like we've had a tremor event right after finishing the swarm, like the ones we've had on the Teide, with a very clear signal between 12:11 h to 12:36 h, with several lines from sound to low frequencies and their harmonics. This would indicate a movement of magma or / and depressurization.
