Last night (17/1) terrific thunderstorm over Antigua.  Rained very heavily, and the 'leccy went out for about 10 mins about 7.30/8.00 pm (when I was trying to cook my dinner on an electric hob).  The storm moved north, then came back around 1.30/2.00 am, knocking-out the 'leccy again, which went on/off/on about half a dozen times over about 10 mins.  It's left a neighbour with his ring main fried, and no sockets working.

I hoped the storm would clear the Weather that brought the calimas over for 4 or 5 days on the trot - I need to get my washing dry (not dusty!) - I'm running out of clean clothes Angry .

We had 5mm of rain in the last 24 hrs. Wind didn't die down for long early morning but we did have some hazy sun this afternoon, still very cold though, about 15C in sun. Drove from very windy Tindaya to Corralejo this morning around 10am, Corralejo noticeably calmer, on to Puerto & El Matorral, still just a bit breezy. Back to Tindaya around 3pm and coming through the mountains at La Matilla the gales hit us again. Really noticable how much windier it is on the west coast! It's roaring again outside Sad

Good morning from Caleta

Have to agree that yesterday the wind in the north and west of the island and on Lanzarote was much stronger than in Caleta.

This morning at 7.50 it was a cool feeling 15C, high thin cloud overhead and inland but a bank of cloud out east over the sea, a moderate wind and no condensation.

Today's Caleta forecast -

The Yellow Warning for Dust & Wind is still in place until midnight tonight, wind until 3pm and dust from midday.

A day of hazy sunshine with the shade temperature reaching 21C at 5pm, the UV Factor will get up to 4 according to AEmet, air quality is poor.

Wind from a general SE direction all day at 26 to 28 kmph with gusts up to 41 kmph this morning / early afternoon easing as the afternoon goes on to 17 kmph by 6pm with gusts up to 33 kmph.

Sunrise, sunset & tide times -

From Tindaya
A dreadful night with the wind again and this morning is no better, no way I can attempt a dog walk. Guesstimate 70 k/ph minimum.

Villaverde.

Still blowing hard here.  Chilly too.
Hazy sunshine.
Plenty of sand on the Lajares - El Cotillo
road by the looks of it.

AEMET warnings have been extended to cover Thursday as well 😭
An acquaintance who lives Cape Verde islands says they are having same Weather conditions as us, calima colliding with tropical storm.

Cloudy at 9am
There are still Yellow Alerts for the calima. That's 7 days of it - that's the longest one I've known in the 18 years I've lived here.
It'll be mainly cloudy with a shade temperature of 20 and a 25 kph SE wind, and a 15% chance of a shower.
