The State Meteorological Agency has decreed a yellow warning for adverse coastal phenomena in Fuerteventura and most of the islands of the archipelago. "Combined Northwest Sea of 4 meters, locally between 4 and 5 meters," states the AEMET. On the other hand and in relation to this and other considerations, the Government of the Canary Islands proposes for this Saturday the situation of Pre-alert for coastal phenomena for this Saturday throughout the community.
The situation will be complicated during the day of Sunday, but it will get really hard from Monday, with a strong rise in the force of the sea, which will be more noticeable to the north and west of Fuerteventura.

 

A lot of wind

 

In addition, from that Monday, the northwest wind will rise very strongly (The AEMET will surely launch a wind warning) that could pass 75 kilometers per hour according to all forecasts.

 

Rain expected

 

According to all models, the storm will leave rains on the islands. On the other hand and according to the meteorological models the DANA would also accompany us in height so there will be a generalized drop in temperatures.

Good morning form Caleta where last evening we had a clear sky for the sunset and plenty of plane vapour trails.

           

This morning at 7.05am 16C, clear sky overhead but cloud all around, a light wind and a little condensation on the car.

A mix of sun and cloud this morning with a mainly cloudy afternoon, no rain is forecast today, shade temperature to get up to 22C from 3pm for a couple of hours with the UV Factor reaching 5 at 10am air quality is fair.

Wind from the N at 15 to 24 kmph with gusts up to 39 kmph until 4pm when it will move to come from the NNW at 24 to 26 kmph with gust up to 39 kmph.

Good morning from Caleta, yesterday was as forecast a mainly cloudy day with the odd break in the clouds for warm sunshine, we have had rain during the night.

       

This morning at 7.10am it is 16C, just started to rain, a lot of grey cloud and a strong breeze.

THERE IS AN ORANGE COASTAL AND A YELLOW WIND WARNING IN PLACE FOR BOTH TODAY AND TOMORROW.

A cloudy day with rain showers all day, the shade temperature getting to only 19C at 3pm, the UV Factor may get up to 3 when the sun gets out, air quality fair.

Wind from the WNW / NW all day at 35 to 41 kmph with gusts up to 61 kmph mid afternoon.

There are already six deaths drowned by the waves in the Canary Islands.
Up to six people have died in the last 48 hours due to the strong waves that are lived on the Canary coasts. This has been reported on the antenna of Radio Club Tenerife by the head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Care Service of the regional government, Montse Román.
"Since last Friday, when the sea storm that was going to occur in the following hours had already been announced, the emergency services have had to intervene in multiple scenarios. It is a woman, on Saturday, who was swept away by a wave in the area of the Pozo de las Calcosas, on the island of El Hierro. Already on Sunday another foreign woman died when she was bathing on the coast of Pájara, in Fuerteventura, "says Cadena Ser.

 

In the afternoon a man of German origin lost his life in the natural pools of Hermigua, in La Gomera, at which time a girl was in critical condition. The 112 has confirmed his death. To this we must add that the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group rescued from the sea the lifeless body of the bather who disappeared on Saturday in the Charco de la Laja, on the Tenerife coast of Bajamar. Likewise, the Security and Emergency Coordination Center has informed the SER of another drowning in the municipality of Adeje.

 

This Monday the adverse Weather situation continues on the islands, so the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared the alert for coastal phenomena, as well as the wind alert. Also the State Meteorological Agency maintains the orange warning in force throughout the Archipelago, at least, until tomorrow Tuesday.

 

Román has asked the population to apply self-protection measures in the face of storms such as the current one, although he recognizes that it is necessary to extend the information since many of the victims turn out to be foreigners. In this regard, he stressed that "if we find ourselves in a situation in which a wave can drag us, there will be no one to take us out immediately. We're going to have to activate resources that are going to take a little longer and it's going to be more and more complicated for them to get you out of the water."

 
On the performance of the rescuers, the head of the service has also highlighted the controversial situations they go through: "They are high-risk rescues and, especially on alert days, with that current due to coastal phenomena." These professionals face wind, shear or bad seas. "From the last rescues two weeks ago and yesterday we have rescuers who have also been injured. Even some rescuer on leave," he concluded.
