No reason why not poppi

See: https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad

Bank accounts your pension can be paid into

Your State Pension can be paid into:
  • a bank in the country you’re living in

  • a bank or building society in the UK
You can use:
  • an account in your name

  • a joint account

  • someone else’s account - if you have their permission and keep to the terms and conditions of the account
You’ll need the international bank account number (IBAN) and bank identification code (BIC) numbers if you have an overseas account.

You’ll be paid in local currency - the amount you get may change due to exchange rates.

Yes Gf is absolutely correct, ours goes into a Nationwide account in the UK, and we use transferwise to bring it across to Sabadell, we just bring what we need across and if the exchange rate increases we bring a larger amount over, it does make a small difference as we brought 0K over back in March/April when the rate hit €1.20.

Just received a letter from UK pensions overseas asking me to complete a "Life certificate" in order for them to continue paying my State pension.
The pension is paid into a UK Bank.
I have never received one before!
Any one else had similar?
I am intending to use the local private doctor as a witness to my signature.
Any info however trifling,welcome.

Just done a little research:-
Apparently over 80's were sent them earlier, but HMG didn't get as many people replying as they thought they might so they have extended the deadline.
All other overseas pensioners should receive a letter by the end of 2024 with 16 weeks in which to reply.
More expense as "witnesses" will undoubtedly charge a fee plus postage to return same document.
There is info from the British consul in the Spanish CA.
Did he publish it in the local press? If so I didn't see it

Both my wife a I have received this request in the last couple of months, the pharmacist at our local Farmacia signed ours at no charge.
To me drinking responsibly means do not spill it.

We received ours yesterday Dec 12th letter dated November 18th so have lost 3 of the 16 weeks to get the Life Certificate returned. Thankfully we have friends here for Christmas and they can take the forms back and post them in the UK.

A question when any of you who are couples have completed the forms have you returned them separately or both in the same envelope?

Thanks in anticipation

My wife's pension simply did not appear on month, so oblivious of what had happened she rang them, and her letter had not arrived at all after 18 weeks so they stopped it, but they then reinstated it after her phone call, no problem, mine arrived some weeks later, and I got the local pharmacist to sign it returned it and all appears ok, but I would post them seperately just in case.
