Accused murderer released from jail due to delay holding the trial
#1
Noticias:

The accused of killing Romina in Lanzarote, released due to the delay in holding the trial.

After spending 4 years in preventive detention, the accused of killing, dismembering and disposing of the remains of his wife on the barbecue of his house will be released for not having held the trial.

This Friday, at the latest, that is the date on which Raúl Díaz, husband of the young Paraguayan Romina Celeste Núñez whom he allegedly killed, dismembered and burned at a barbecue, will leave the Tahiche prison on parole.

The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas decrees the release without bail of the accused for the violent death of his wife in Costa Teguise (Lanzarote) at Christmas 2019, at the end of the maximum time allowed by law for the maintenance in provisional detention (two years + two years of extension).

The accused must appear every Monday in court, must designate domicile in Spain and is obliged to notify how many changes of address verify, likewise, he is prohibited from leaving the national territory, his passport is withdrawn and the issuance of a new one is prohibited.

Regarding the trial that is pending, it will be indicated once the TSJC resolves the appeal presented by his defense against the order of preliminary questions of the process before the jury, which precisely today has entered the Criminal Chamber of the TSJC

From this moment, the prison of Tahiche (Lanzarote) where he is admitted can agree at any time to release the accused.

This situation has generated great controversy and fear among the population, given the likelihood of escape by Díaz.

The procedure has been complicated by several changes in the resources of the defence and the prosecution.

The Prosecutor's Office requests 300,000 euros for the 900,000 of the private accusation, The Canarian Institute for Women as a popular action interests that 30 years in prison be imposed and compensation of 350,000 to the heirs.

A case hard to forget

As will be recalled, the discovery of the lung of the young Paraguayan, Romina Celeste Núñez found by tourists on the beach of Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise, allegedly murdered in the hands of her husband, Raúl Díaz, has been decisive in the investigation when it comes to accusing the husband of the girl who maintained in his statements that she was found dead in her house and threw her remains along the coast of Lanzarote.

The Government Delegation for Gender Violence included less than a month ago the young Paraguayan Romina Celeste Núñez, allegedly murdered by her husband and disappeared since New Year's Eve in Lanzarote, as a mortal victim of sexist violence.

Núñez, a 29-year-old mother of two, disappeared that night and her husband was arrested thirteen days later and, after months of investigation, the Government has confirmed that it is a case of gender violence, the first of 2019.

The girl's spouse did not report her missing until a week later, when relatives began to worry about her.

The alleged murderer, about whom there were previous complaints of abuse, assured that he did not kill her, that he found her dead when he returned home on New Year's Eve, he was scared and got rid of her body, first trying to burn it in the garden of his house and then throwing his remains in different points of the coast of Lanzarote.

Like the Prosecutor's Office, the private prosecution warns that there is a risk of flight. It also agrees with the Public Prosecutor's Office that no trial has been scheduled for four years due to the continuous resources of the defense, which has changed several times, in order to delay the investigation and thus exhaust the term of preventive detention, as has ended up happening.
