Thanks Captain. It would be nice to see the cause of the 1.4% decrease. Possibly Cabildo de Fuerteventura not doing that many promos as they used to do last year?

That works out, I think, between 7500 & 8000 passengers less in that month period (compared to last year) I imagine that some of this could be down to increased costs of the package deals along with the decrease in the £ rate due to the circumstances over the last year. Regardless of the U.K. governments rhetoric that the economy is improving I personally think that people’s grip on their dwindling cash pot is getting tighter. To be honest, I cannot say I have seen any great overall improvement since the crash in 2008. Just my opinion though

There has also been at least one (Monarch) and possibly other airlines that have folded. I used to fly to and fro with Norwegian but they stopped doing short haul. If no other airlines have picked up the slack wouldn't this account for a fair drop in passenger numbers?

7860 passengers down in a month is a lot that equates to roughly 22 plane arrivals less , or the supposedly good load figures that airlines are reporting are not true .
Ron whilst UK belt may still be tight other countries must also contributing to the reduction .

As a comparison, there was a 2.5% drop in passengers at Lanzarote airport in October. They are down 0.7% on the year so far.

I don't think that the Monarch going into the administration should count because they ceased trade on the beginning of October 2017. I should know, we've landed back in the UK (from Venice) just a couple of hours before they announced the collapse. I'm sure they still fly to Fuerteventura, just not from the UK. And do hope they'll bring the flights to the Canary Islands back again.

Pound being weak would sort of make more sense even UK flights are only about 15% of all the flights going to Fuerteventura from the rest of the Europe.
