Is it a hardware or software issue?

It's hardware - I can't get it to turn on at all - the other day it would come on and then go off a few times, but now nothing!

It could be anything. I would probably start with using a working battery or power cable from another MacBook Huh

Sorry don't know anyone on the island who specialises on Apple products but will look around.

I also use a MacBook Air, so following this with interest. Currently I have a "sticky" space bar which is frustrating to say the least and it may "give up" during next trip.......

It is often caused by a swollen battery in Apples.

Found one and it looks promising. Checked quite a few (overwhelmingly positive) reviews and although they do usually deal with phones/tablets, their website suggests they could repair laptops too. I've been in El Campanario many times but honestly can't remember to walk past the shop.

Repair Centre in El Campanario CC in Corralejo:
