"Hola to all our Chocolate Friends. 🤗
We are re-opening The Chocolate Shop On Tuesday 2nd June. 🥳
Our working hours will have changed since you last visited. Please take note... while we are still in this Lockdown crisis...our business hours will be
9.00am - 2.00pm. Tuesday to Saturday....
Closed Sundays and Mondays  "

Now that is great news - always struggled to find a good tea shop then found this. Please don't hesitate to recommend other establishments that serve great tea and cake, my wife would be delighted to receive them.

The Post Office in Caleta was not open today, Emmi. Lots of works-related boxes stacked up inside, but otherwise seems all done, so looks like they will just have to do a bit of cleanup before opening and will be ready to go whenever they feel like opening!

Will keep an eye on it and let you know if there are any changes.

Thanks Ducks. I have been able to establish today from a number of sources, that deliveries of post by the postman are still in operation as per before lockdown. So hopefully my mail will turn up at some time.

Tindaya (if you fancy a drive out!)

Bar/Café Maria - open early 'til 3pm every day. Good for a beer/coffee stop, mainly locals, pretty quiet as only a few tables/chairs outside. Plenty more inside if you prefer. Not big on food but bocadillos available.

Bar Gonzalez - open Tues to Sun, 6am to 11pm. 3 tables outside, more inside, again mainly locals. Good selection of Spanish food and great bocadillos, all to eat in or takeaway. Weekends they do rotisserie chickens and potatoes to takeaway (not the cheapest but very handy and tasty!) - go like hotcakes! If you're ever tempted by this ask for it Entero otherwise they take a machete to it before they put it in the box!

Mini SuperMercado (next to bar Gonzalez) has been open 7 days a week throughout, as it always is. Run by Rick, an English guy who has been here for years, it has been a lifesaver for many local families during lockdown. Fresh bread deliveries from La Oliva 3 times a day.

Sunday 7th June. Tindaya boot-fair restarts. We will be very hot/strict on social distancing/masks/gel etc and disinfecting goods but we would love to see you if you feel like a change of scenery. 9am - noon.

Update that China Town in Mattoral is back to making people use their damned lock-up bags again.  Rolleyes

I protested that this wasn't safe, but she pointed at a sad spray bottle of generic alcohol-free cleanser and said "we sanitise". Many people wandering around with their masks down/off once they got past the door. Stock of several items very low or absent. Given all that, I think I will try to avoid it for a bit if possible. I still need one or two more things, but will probably stick with the China Shop in town if I can.

Also visited Lidl, which was busy enough, but pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Good stock of most staples, but their special buys certainly do fly out the door!

Nothing else interesting to report, but did notice that several pubs/restaurants in the Happy Centre and Puerto Sol plaza were open. (Unfortunately not the lovely ice cream shop there, though.)

Very curious as to when the businesses in the White Centre will re-open. Perhaps once we leave Phase 3? Or when the Barcelo reopens? Nice to see a bit of life slowly returning to the town, but until it and the hotels are open again, it is still going to feel a little bit melancholy and ghostly.

We were at Algo Mas for supper last evening and saw one of the Directors of Anjoca who told us that they will be opening 2 of their 5 hotels the first week in July, The Elba Hotel Sara and the San Jorge.  They will phase the opening of the others as business increases.

It is my belief that all the property that makes up the White Centre belongs to Barcelo, so it would make sense it would all reopen at the same time, although when that will be is anyone's guess.
