Ducks, is it ok to share your cartoon. I found it quite amusing.

I totally agree one must stay positive and realistic.

Unfortunately, I doubt it— in another thread it says they're looking to do another 1000 tests in the next week, having only done 300 so far. I expect a strong rise in positives after that, however, as long as we don't see a rise in hospital admissions/ICU figures, it's nothing to be concerned about. These people would have had the virus anyway, with or without testing! It's really difficult to read much into the numbers at all when so few tests are being carried out.

There is obviously a global shortage of accurate testing kits, but I do wonder if this huge uptick in testing at such a late stage in the game is cover to allow them to extend the lockdown period beyond the two further weeks already declared. Given that the mainland will likely be in no fit state to lift restrictions in a fortnight's time, they may use a published increase in figures here to continue the lockdown here also so that there is consistent application of the rules across the kingdom.

Either way, I feel we've been exceptionally fortunate here.

It's more than a little disconcerting to discover that only 300 tests have been carried out so far. Hopefully any spike in positive cases will be at a minimum.

Saw a report today saying Lanzarote is going to Level 4 alert on Saturday. This prompted me to look at their figures compared to Fuerteventura:

Oh, crumbs. They're really having a tough time. We are so lucky to be on this island, we really are.

Lanza still having really bad with over 1000 active cases compared to Fuerte's 184.
Remember these figs will differ slightly to the stats reported elsewhere as there are different ways of recording the cases.

For info, the other islands' current stats:
