Radio Sintonia:
La Oliva bids farewell to its
Carnival of Carnivals with "success of participation and security"
After ten days of uninterrupted celebration, the
Carnival of Carnivals of La Oliva burned its sardine yesterday. This
Carnival has ended up being considered by the City Council as a "resounding success of participation and security", consolidating, therefore, as "one of the most outstanding
Events in Fuerteventura".
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, highlighted the fundamental role of the emergency and security forces in guaranteeing a safe
Carnival for all citizens. "The presence of our agents, even with the current challenges we face, has been key to maintaining order and tranquility during this festive season. I appreciate the dedication of the Local
Police, La Oliva Fire Department, Civil Protection and private security, for their dedication and professionalism," said the mayor.
For her part, the Councilor for Celebrations, Omaira Saavedra, highlighted the joint effort of the special bodies and the cleaning department to maintain the good development of the activities. "The coordination between all the entities involved has been exemplary. Our cleaning team has worked tirelessly to ensure our streets remain spotless, demonstrating their commitment to the community," Saavedra said.
The highlight of the celebration was the Grand Drag Queen Gala, which this year commemorated its 25th anniversary with a dazzling show featuring prominent local artists. "The gala was a reflection of the talent and diversity that characterize our municipality. I congratulate everyone involved in the organization of this emblematic event," added Mayor Blanco.
In addition, the activities aimed at the little ones, such as the Children's Verbena and the Peque-fiesta, as well as the II meeting of the
Carnival School, have contributed to promoting the roots of these traditions among the new generations. "It is essential to involve children in the celebration of our festivities, to guarantee the continuity of our customs," said Councilwoman Saavedra.
The
Carnival of Carnivals of La Oliva was also the scene of artistic and cultural expressions through the Gala de Las Danzas and the marathon of murgas, which delighted the public with their talent and creativity. "These
Events are a showcase of the rich cultural heritage of our municipality, and I thank all the participants for their dedication and enthusiasm," concluded Mayor Blanco.
The closing of the festivities, with the traditional
Carnival bullring on Saturday and the burning of the sardine yesterday, Sunday, March 17, was the perfect culmination of a week of celebration and coexistence in the municipality of La Oliva.
