Instead of waiting for DGT to confirm your UK licence with DVLC, a process that can take quite some time, the new system is that you obtain a verification code from DVLC (valid for 21 days only), by going to the following website. Its free.

Many thanks Tom

Got my check code on Friday no problem you do need your current UK diving
licence number and National Insurance number, quite straightforward

Slight problem with the process. Got an email this morning asking us to make an appointment to hand over the UK driving licence.
So, I guess handing it back to us was a mistake and they should have issued the three month temporary licence.
First available appointment is next Monday (27th), so will report back later but meanwhile if you get an appointment double check with them if they give you your UK licence back please.
Tom.

It is some time since I swapped my licence but if the grey cells serve me right.
I was issued with a 3 month temp then I heard nothing.I went back to DGT about a week before the temp expired no appointment, just told the friendly security guy I was just picking up a licence.Had to do a little more paperwork just confirming some bits and bobs, asked for my UK licence which I handed over and promptly given my Spanish licence.

It is booked direct with the centre, not via DGT. Be aware that the centre are now asking you have an appointment with DGT BEFORE you go for the health check, as the certificate is valid for three months only and they are anticipating a long backlog for getting DGT appointments.

Our appointment was on Wednesday, the DGT lady handed back our UK
licences.
DGT sent an email asking us to make another appointment to handover the UK
licences which we did yesterday.
All sorted now with a temporary
licence, said 6 to 8 weeks for the card to be ready and would email to notify.
We did our psicotecnico here on Monday
https://www.reconocimientosfuerteventura.com/ cost 45€
We managed okay without a gestor.
