A man dies by drowning in La Oliva.
A man, whose age is unknown, has died after drowning in Punta Mallorquín, in the municipality of La Oliva. (Tamara: I believe this is south of El Cotillo)
At 4:40 p.m., the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert in which it was reported that a person had disappeared at sea while swimming. Immediately, the 1-1-2 activated the necessary emergency resources.
When the firefighters of La Oliva arrived at the place, the affected was in the sand since he had been taken out of the water by other bathers. When they were in cardiorespiratory arrest, they began to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.
The helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) rescued the affected person and continued with the resuscitation maneuvers until his arrival at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, where he finally died.
