Radio Sintonia:

A swimmer dies and another is taken to hospital after being rescued on a beach in Fuerteventura.

A swimmer dies and another is taken to hospital after being rescued on a beach in Fuerteventura, more specifically in the area of Costa Calma, Pájara, 3:44 p.m. today, Wednesday, January 31, according to 112

A man, deceased, and another man, 60 years old, who at the initial moment of assistance presented difficulty breathing, transferred in a basic life support ambulance from the SUC to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura.

Services activated by CECOES 1-1-2:

Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC): medicalised helicopter, medicalised ambulance and basic life support ambulance
Pájara Fire Brigade
Local Police
Guardia Civil
Remarks:

At the time indicated above, the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert informing them that the lifeguards on the beach had rescued a man from the water and he was disoriented.
Subsequently, in a second call they report that they have rescued another bather who is in cardiorespiratory arrest and are performing reniaming maneuvers.
1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
When the medical staff arrived at the beach, they continued with both basic and advanced resuscitation maneuvers, failing to reverse the cardiorespiratory arrest, thus confirming the death of the second swimmer.
Fire crews secured the area for the safe seizure of the helicopter next to the scene of the incident.
Police services initiated the corresponding proceedings.
