EasyJet One-way Baggage Rip Off

Just tried to book a suitcase on to our flight in December but only one way as we’re not bringing it back but the EasyJet website wont let you do that. Just rang them and they say the only way you can take a case one way is check it in at the airport and it is £50! It appears to us that there is no way round this. What a rip off! Anyone got any ideas please?

I've booked my golfclubs on a one-way before. Maybe it's because you didn't do it at original reservation time?

How about going handsfree at the airport. £7 each case. Then take your normal hand luggage onboard. Don't stand in the priority line and they probably won't notice you have another cabin bag.

This way 2 people can bring 4 bags for £14 total.

I've done this before - golf clubs and additional bag one way - and although you have to ring and go through customer service, it's pretty easy and they have always been very helpful. Charge was an additional £25 as I recall?

We had the same problem this current trip.  Apparently the rules changed in August.
Whilst not perfect, the old method of calling Customer Services to book a one way bag
worked ok and we could do our bag drop the previous evening at Gatwick as our flights
are generally around 0530. As you say, who wants to check a bag in at 0330. We decided
in the end to go hand luggage only as we have pretty much everything we need in FV
already. The £50 price tag can't be that much less than booking a return bag? Or can it?

Thanks for all your replies. We have booked a one way bag on several occasions with no problem and always after we have booked the flight. As I said, you can book a one way at the airport for £50. Both ways is £64, not much difference. Before it was always around £30 one way, give or take a couple of pounds. We need to take more than can be carried or taken on board so hand luggage only, unfortunately, is not an option. Mr. GSD has just found an option to take 15kg for £25.00, each way, which we can do on line and one way only too. This only seems to be an option on their app not the website so we will probably go with that. EasyJet didn’t offer this to us this when we rang their customer services. Why does everything have to be so complicated I ask myself?

You could have booked two one-way flights, one with a bag, one without.

For future, now that they don't charge booking fees you can book your return trip as separate flights and just put a case on the outbound flight.
