Radio Sintonia:

A tender for the conservation and restoration works of the Tostón Lighthouse.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through Museums of Fuerteventura and the Ministry of Infrastructure, has put out to tender the conservation and restoration works of the Tostón Lighthouse, located in the town of El Cotillo, in the municipality of La Oliva. The actions have a tender amount of 282,735.21 euros and the deadline for submission of bids ends on August 24, through the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura in the Section Profile of the Contractor.

The president of the council, Sergio Lloret, has strongly opted for the use of the Tostón Lighthouse, an emblem of the island and a clear attraction for those who visit it. A few months ago, the Board of Directors of the Port Authority extended the concession to the island council and from the Ministry of Infrastructure we work at a good pace to carry out these important works to keep our facilities in the best conditions.

From Museums of Fuerteventura, coordinated by the minister Rayco León, it is explained that the objective of this project is to ensure the conservation and restoration of the property with tasks that consist of the repair of those elements that present a significant deterioration caused by the marine environment and the passage of time.

Therefore, tasks such as repair of the façade and interior cladding of the lantern will be carried out, as well as replacement of rusty elements such as luminaires, stairs or carpentry, improvement of the waterproofing of the roof and installation of interior lighting, among other actions.

The Tostón Lighthouse was built in the late nineteenth century (1897), currently having three towers of different heights and a large room that houses the Museum of Traditional Fishing.

Morro Velosa Viewpoint

Museums of Fuerteventura works to improve its network of centers and museums, in coordination with the Ministry of Infrastructure. Among the projects to be executed is the one referring to the Mirador de Morro Velosa (Betancuria). The Cabildo of Fuerteventura will undertake repair and adaptation works of this property, which houses the Interpretation Center of Arid Zones of the island.
With a planned investment of 660,000 euros, the project includes the repair of a 25-year-old building, as well as the extension of the cafeteria and the execution of the terrace.
