Thanks folks! Don't need anything today (that I am aware of) but trying to nail down the procedure for any future problems so that if something goes wrong we already know what to do and don't have to try to find out what to do as well as getting it done.

What happens if you have a non-emergency issue that wouldn't require a trip to A&E (flu, chest/ear infection etc.) and are staying too long to wait to go home, but not long enough to be resident? Pay to see a doc privately, I suppose?

Yep, that’s the way the system works Ducks the European health card is for hospital visits only as far as I am aware

No, that's not right. The EHIC is for immediately necessary treatment, the need for which cannot be put off until you return and this includes exacerbation or management of pre-existing health conditions, which don't necessarily merit hospital attendance. (State/Health Service) GPs should accept the EHIC.
