The Civil Guard clarifies a crime of fraud and theft of cattle of more than 90,000 euros.
The Roca Team of the Civil Guard of the Command of Las Palmas, has arrested on April 29, 2022 a person of 57 years of age and for the alleged authorship of a crime of fraud, two crimes of robbery with force in things and two crimes of theft to uncover a plot in which it is presumed that the detainee gave exit to the cattle that other people stole in livestock farms on the island of Gran Canaria.
The investigation began as a result of the complaint filed by a farmer from the municipality of Teror on February 5 in which the theft of 49 goats worth about 4,300 euros was reported at the Main Post of Arucas. For this reason, the Roca Team of the Civil Guard within the framework of the Plan against subtractions in agricultural and livestock areas, began the appropriate inquiries to clarify the fact denounced, finding that it was not an isolated event, having up to three more harmed by similar Events in which the indications pointed to the authorship by a young man known in the world of bovid breeding in the Canary Islands, still missing, further raising the value of subtractions.
The Civil Guard carried out an exhaustive monitoring of the movements of this type of cattle, locating the alleged perpetrator in which it was suspected that the stolen animals were being transferred illegally between farms in the southeast of Gran Canaria, beginning an intense investigation and discreet surveillance that bore fruit when intercepting a man at the door of one of the farms they used as a clandestine livestock farm, this fact was confirmed when they found inside the trunk of their vehicle a dying goat, tied legs and head, next to a raffia sack with an animal of the same gender dismembered.
After confirming the suspicions of the Roca Team, they immediately released the animal and it was transferred to an animal shelter in Fuerteventura which were responsible for healing it and its care until resolution by the Competent Authority.
With these inquiries, the Civil Guard was able to find out how the cattle that had been stolen were being sold illegally in any way, alive or dead, skipping all sanitary regulations, with the risk it entails for the integrity of people, which is why the corresponding inspections were carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, preparing the corresponding administrative acts for the infractions appreciated.
In addition, it is the circumstance that in one of the inspections part of a goat with its identifying crotal from Fuerteventura was located, resulting in cattle denounced by a cheese processing company on the island of Gran Canaria for having acquired them from the same young man for the exploitation of cattle worth 72,000 euros, however, he did not recover the agreed cattle, these facts being constitutive of a crime of fraud for which the investigation was initiated for its exploitation worth 72,750 euros in which the owner never saw the fruit of his investment, also
feeling aggrieved by a crime of fraud.
In this way, the Civil Guard deduces that it was a network between the young cattle breeder, his partner and the detainee, who profited from the theft and subsequent sale, offering not only the cattle but also any type of products related to the sector such as machinery and feed, announcing them even via the web reason why they were located harmed even on the island of Tenerife, extreme that was participated to the competent Police unit.
From all this, the appropriate Police proceedings were carried out and were placed at the judicial disposal of the corresponding Acting Court of Guard of Arucas, although the investigation is continuing in order to locate the rest of those involved in the plot.
