ITV for car - still taking place?
#11
Well, what a mess of information.  I phoned my garage where I usually take the car for a pre ITV service - .  They are open but informed me that the ITV station at El  Matorral is closed.  I phoned the ITV station direct and they told me they are open!!!  You've just got to laugh.  The garage is just 100 metres away from the ITV station!

So I am now going to relax and wait.  My ITV does not expire for another two weeks or so, and will wait to see how it all pans out.

I am in a similar situation in that my car is now due its annual ITV, however the stations are all closed until further notice on the island.

This prompted me to call at my local Police station and ask specifically whether I can still drive my car during lockdown without an up to date ITV.

The answer I received was 'yes you can' but you must make an appointment as soon as they open again to get your car tested and obviously meantime only go out in it with good reason (and no passengers allowed).

A spot of good news in hard times I think !

Anyone still having ITV concerns, this is addressed in the video Windermeregolfer posted in the De-escalation thread post no.83

The ITV information starts at around 18:45, but the general theme seems to be that centres are now re-opening, and you will be allowed to drive there on an expired cert IF, AND ONLY IF, you had a preexisting appointment, otherwise it seems to mean getting towed there.

Is towing an option in Spain?  I think not.

Only if the ITV expired prior to the lockdown, after lockdown and you can drive there The wording is ambiguous in translation, were i in that position, I'd pre book on line or by telephone and print off the details or email that they send and drive there. Even if you got stopped and the GC insisted on fining you, which I doubt, it would still cost half of what a grua would cost
