The Civil Guard investigates a man for non-payment of fuel and previous alteration of the license plate of his car.
The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Agüimes, on August 17 investigated a 22-year-old man who has numerous antecedents, as the alleged author of a crime of documentary falsification and another slight fraud, by not paying the amount of the refueling of his tourist vehicle in a service station of the Industrial Estate of Arinaga, previously altering the numbering of their license plates.
Knowledge of the facts
The Civil Guard was aware of the Events that occurred on June 10, following a complaint filed by the injured company, in which it reports how a person accesses the gas station of the Industrial Estate at the controls of his tourist vehicle, accompanied by four people. In addition, the complainant provided the make, model and license plate of the vehicle with which the scam was committed.
Therefore, taking advantage of the alleged authors an hour of great influx of customers, one of the occupants of the vehicle refuels while the driver and other occupants wait inside it. Once the operation is finished, they quickly leave the place without paying the amount due.
The Agents of the Investigation Area of the
Agüimes Post carried out the appropriate Police investigations and the various steps to clarify the facts that occurred, with the analysis of frames of video surveillance cameras provided by the injured company, verifying how the license plate presented by the actor vehicle corresponded to that of another totally different vehicle.
After arduous efforts, the investigators were able to find out the true numbering of the license plate and the vehicle actually used to commit the criminal act. Therefore, because the owner of said vehicle is a habitual offender with a background, and when viewing the recordings of the security cameras of the gas station, they manage to identify without a doubt the owner of the vehicle as the person who drove it at the time of committing the facts.
Therefore, the civil guards observed the owner of the vehicle with the license plates with which it was initially presumed to be original, but when initiating the investigative procedures for the complete identification of the vehicle, they determined that said person resides in a neighborhood of the capital Gran Canaria. Based on this, the researchers traveled to the place being able to corroborate in situ that this numbering of the license plate was altered in the last digit.
It should be noted that the owner of the vehicle has numerous records for thefts in establishments on the island of Gran Canaria, some using the same modus operandi fleeing from the places with their vehicle with modified license plates. The Civil Guard warns that license plates are considered a public document, and as such, the Criminal Code contemplates that their manipulation or falsification can lead to prison sentences of six months to three years and a fine of six to twelve months.
Also, for that same conduct, article 10 of the Traffic and Road Safety Law contemplates fines that can reach 6,000 euros in the most serious cases and be accompanied by the loss of 6 points of the driving license.
The proceedings were sent to the Court of Instruction of Telde, acting as guard.
