Lidl on the Costa de Antigua Industrial Estate
#61
I went to the Superbarato Chinese this morning, and thought I'd call into Lidl. It was closed.

It says that there is a grand re-opening on Tuesday 22 June. I wonder what they are doing.

They are doing a minor refit, although what they can do in 3 days is beyond me, but it needed something, in all my years in retailing I have never seen a store so badly laid out.

Lidl must have a plan.  My local one in the UK is also having a MAJOR refit.......walls coming down, piles of builders rubble outside.

I am sure they do Emmi, but in 3/4 days?? not enough time do anything other than rearrange the ambient and non food sections.

I'm hoping that they create more space for queuing at the checkouts. At the moment, because of social distancing, the queues go up past the fruit/veg section etc which is not ideal.

In China they completed an entire 10-storey block of flats in less than 29 hours, all prefabricated, of course.

n the UK in the 70.s we stocked a 5,000sq metre Asda in 6 days, we were given the building on Monday at 11:00 and opened the following Monday at 09:00 no Central Distribution in those days nearly every supplier delivered direct having said that it was 3 months and a lot of premature grey hair in the planning Smile Smile Smile Smile

Called in today, didn't notice any changes at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

they have removed the gap between the two fruit and veg sections they had previously, and rearranged the display, they have taken away the freezer that had shelving sections on it at the back right of the store, and replaced it with a 10 metre upright enclosed freezer, they have replaced the freezer that was in the back left that previously held ice cream, with what appears to be the freezer from the right hand side minus the over freezer shelves, other than that they have rejigged the lay out a bit, I think they have reduced the space allocated to Wines and Spirits, which in my humble opinion makes sense as compared with Mercadona they are not competitive, their Wines and Spirits section no runs into Cooking Oils etc, bottled sauces etc which were on top of a freezer are now opposite Wines and Spirits. { As you can see I did not pay much attention Rolleyes Rolleyes Rolleyes Rolleyes  }

I went there this morning I went shopping at Lidl. As John says they've just had a move around with some of the freezers and some dry products.

Yes it is a little odd Rolleyes any one else notice that in one of the fridges, they have cooled and uncooked chicken next to on another? yes i know they are wrapped, but not a thing that would happen in the UK
