The Cabildo warns of the cut and diversion of the FV-3 access road to Puerto del Rosario that will modify access to the city through it and will affect traffic coming from the FV-10 from Tetir starting this Thursday

A new carriageway parallel to the FV-3 will facilitate road traffic in both directions along the affected section, while users coming from Tetir will have a detour to the Antigua junction.
On the occasion of the work that the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands is carrying out on the section of the La Caldereta-Puerto del Rosario-Airport road, included in the North-South axis of Fuerteventura, tomorrow, Thursday June 16, starting at 11:00 in the morning, the necessary traffic diversion will be carried out for the completion of the works, which will be carried out in the section between kilometers 3.6 and 6 of the FV-3 highway that affects the capital of the island.
As a result of these works, users of the aforementioned FV-3 road in both directions of traffic (Corralejo-Airport) will be affected, for whom a secondary road parallel to the affected road has been set up.
For road traffic on the FV-10 highway to Puerto del Rosario, coming from Tetir-La Asomada-El Time, you will not be able to use the roundabout on Eustaquio Santana Gil and Juan de Bethancourt streets in the island capital, having to turn towards the junction of the FV-20 to make the change of direction and rejoin the FV-3 and to access Juan de Bethancourt street.
In this way and in order to cause the least possible interference with the flow of traffic at this strategic point of access to the city, drivers will have at their disposal the aforementioned new road, parallel to the FV-3 between the points affected by the works, which will allow users of said road to circulate in both directions, with access to the La Oliva-Tetir roundabout.
For their part, users of the FV-10 will have a detour that will take them to the Antigua interchange, from which they can access Puerto del Rosario via the FV-20, or return to the FV-3 until the interchange of La Oliva-Tetir previously mentioned.
These new diversions will be duly signposted, in addition to being permanently controlled by the work operators, during the period of time that they are operational.

Radio Sintonia:

Provisional solutions are agreed to the accesses of the highway to Puerto del Rosario.

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and responsible for the area of Roads, Sergio Lloret López, has met with the head of the technical area of the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, Mr. Ángel Mejías; the Lieutenant of the Civil Guard of Traffic in Fuerteventura, Mr. Félix Rodríguez Rovira; the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Mr. Juan Jiménez and the head of the Local Police, Pedro Gordillo, among other political and technical figures of these administrations to solve the incidents transferred by the neighbors of Fuerteventura in terms of traffic diversions of the FV-10, at the entrance of Puerto del Rosario to Tetir, as well as foresee the possible incidents in the FV-20, also in the exit of the capital majorera towards Casillas del Ángel and Antigua during the execution of the following link.

The meeting was held to agree on a provisional solution for access to adjoining farms affected by the works, while the execution of the works of the highway is completed, in the Caldereta – Airport section, which will be part of the North-South axis, whose forecast duration is comprised in a period of one and a half and two years.

To respond to the incidents transferred by the users of the road, it has been agreed to the execution of a new provisional roundabout at the access of the FV-3 to the FV-10 at the height of the link known as 'link of La Molina', at the exit Puerto del Rosario – Tetir, which allows access to the services and facilities that are in the area. This measure has been chosen because it is the action with the lowest risk of accidents of the alternatives proposed, with the aim that, above all, road safety and the preservation of the physical integrity of those who circulate on that road prevail, as well as the functionality of the road.

The affected area has a provisional detour at the height of the so-called 'La Molina link' that connects the FV-3 and FV-10 roads. Until now, the existing detour prohibited the left turn due to the high traffic intensity of the road and the proximity to the construction area. By integrating within the aforementioned detour, from the FV-3 to the FV-10, a provisional roundabout will allow left turns, reducing the risks of accidents and providing greater road safety to that section.

The island president has indicated that "with this action we want to solve the inconvenience caused by the recent works on the new link FV-3 and FV-10, while the execution of these works is developed to avoid major incidents, always prioritizing road safety and the physical integrity of the users who circulate through said section".

In this way, the authorities and administrations involved in the execution, raise the possibility of using the same criterion and installing a temporary roundabout to solve the deviations of future works of the FV-20 link, at the exit of the capital majorera towards Casillas del Ángel and Antigua, at the height of El Matadero insular, which allows better access to services to the industrial area and to the facilities that the Island Council has. such as the Slaughterhouse, Garages or the facilities of Works and Machinery. The island president added that "the Services of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, together with the Government of the Canary Islands, are studying the possibility that these roundabouts could be the definitive solution to the accesses and turns on the FV-10 and FV-20 roads".

In the words of the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, "the progress of the works of the new highway in the section from La Caldereta to the airport have caused alterations in the connections with the capital, especially for the neighbors from the north such as Tetir, La Asomada, El Time, La Matilla and Los Estancos, that must enter the capital by the FV-20. It is important that the Cabildo, as it is responsible for the road, enables a comfortable and viable alternative for access to Puerto del Rosario by Juan de Bethencourt. That is the most feasible possibility as it guarantees greater road safety."

On the other hand, the possibilities of interconnection have been studied, for the coming months, in the access to Puerto del Rosario from Tetir by the FV-10 through Avenida Juan de Bethencourt, "where we have to take into account the density of traffic in the current ring road of the FV-3", says the president.

As for the conditions of the prohibition of access directly from the FV-10 to the urban area to Avenida Juan de Bethencourt, transferred by the population, both those responsible for the organization of the same, as the Civil Guard of Traffic and the Local Police, have moved that it is necessary to maintain this incorporation to Puerto del Rosario , in which the vehicles must go to the roundabout of the FV-20 and make the change of direction, to maintain the safety conditions, prioritizing the traffic of the FV-3, to avoid retentions that could produce accidents by scope. For his part, the Lieutenant of the Civil Guard of Traffic in Fuerteventura, D. Félix Rodríguez said that "so far there have been no incidents and it is necessary to prioritize above all the safety of the road".

In addition, during the meeting, the demands made by the neighbors of the Rosa de la Monja were transferred to the regional Executive, who are affected by the current access road to their homes due to the works that are being carried out. The project proposes a new access that moves from the current location, so they asked for the paving of the new access, from the link of honduras to the Rose of the Nun.
The Government of the Canary Islands has agreed to include this new section in the overall execution of the work to avoid delaying it through an independent project. "From the Cabildo we have responded to this neighborhood demand using what we understood as the fastest way for the neighbors of the Rosa de la Monja to have access to their homes in the same or improved conditions of accessibility and security," says President Sergio Lloret.
