Non Residents Tax
#1
Hi all
I keep checking my Bank Account but no sign of current IBI being asked for or paid.
I’m just asking so that I don’t get caught out by missing my Non Resident Tax payment deadline.
I did a couple of years ago and it was a right faff getting it and the late payment fines sorted.
Thanks for any advice

Depending on which part of the island you are on!

In La Olivia,  the payment will be taken from banks on or after the 15th September

You pay NRT retrospectively, so you have until the 31st December 2020 to pay the tax for 2019.

The 2020 NRT you have until 31/12/2021 to pay that.

Yes that’s true i think you are talking about what we know as council tax, that is taken by direct debit. NRT is like an income tax return.

Thanks for your replies.
I was hoping to use the Valor Catastral figure stated on the IBI invoice to base my NRT calcs on and this years IBI hasn’t been taken out of my account yet.
My Property comes under Pájara, would anyone know if the VC values have changed at all from last year?
Failing that I’ll have a drive out to Pajara offices and get the latest figures direct from them.
Cher’s again

The tax office doesn`t alter the VC very often if it does then the figures you use to make the calculations for the tax will change as you will pay a smaller percentage if they have revised the VC in the last 10 years.

I assume you are paying the NRT for 2019 in which case you will know the VC from the paperwork you had when you received the notification last year.

My property is in La Oliva & the NRT for 2019 had the same VC for 2018. The tax was the same as nothing had changed including the rate of tax. Next year I would imagine when you pay the tax for 2020 you will probably find everything is the same but check the VC with the notification you eventually receive.
 this year.

However, come 2022 when you pay the NRT for 2021 if you are a UK citizen & the transition period ends on 31/12/20 the rate of tax will increase as you will no longer be an EU citizen. This will rise from 19% to  24%. I will post on the forum if the tax office changes the figure if no one else doesn`t post it before I complete the 2021 tax year NRT.

Yea got it now !
Looked back at my 2019 IBI bill and used the VC stated on that so should be OK now.
Thanks again for all your advice.
