The Guardia Civil is studying a permanent position in Antigua.
Caleta de Fuste is proposed as a preferred location for the location of a barracks or permanent post of the Civil Guard
The mayor, Matías Peña García, received this Thursday morning at the City Hall of Antigua the General Chief of the Canary Islands, Juan Hernández Mosquera and the Colonel Chief of the Command in Las Palmas, Javier Peña de Aro.
The representatives of the Civil Guard respond with this meeting to the proposal of the mayor of Antigua more than a year ago, to install a fixed post or operations headquarters of this body of the Security Forces in the Municipality, especially in Caleta de Fuste.
General Mosquera thanked the willingness of the City Council of Antigua at all times to facilitate the service of the agents in the Municipality, and has transferred to the mayor, that among the measures to improve the infrastructure and logistics of the Corps, the possibility of establishing a fixed post or permanent barracks in the town of Caleta de Fuste is being evaluated.
At their disposal and in whatever they need, said the main municipal councilor, so that their permanent presence in the main tourist town of the Municipality, with the largest number of resident and floating population throughout the year, is a reality.
The mayor, Matías Peña, has summoned the commanders of the Civil Guard to a more detailed meeting and with the area technicians to promote this project in the Municipality and in the shortest possible time.
Undoubtedly, if confirmed, adds the municipal councilor, this is magnificent news and the response we have been waiting for since we proposed it, both for what it means in terms of security and attention to any neighbour, as well as for the support that its proximity also means, objectively and subjectively, for shops, hotel complexes, restaurant areas or the industrial area itself.
