On the other hand, I was expecting a parcel from America last year.   It was tracked postage by UPS until it reached Spain! I heard nothing more for 2 weeks - no idea whre it was.  I went to the local Correos office and they were most helpful.  Through their internal data system they found it had been dispatched from Madrid via normal Correos and was currently in Las`Palmas.  Lady said it should be in Caleta within a few days.  And indeed it was.  Sheer relief as it was quite valuable.

and this is what can happen if the person addressing the envelope doesn't do it properly!

posted late November (2019). Pedro the postie delivered it today - he thought it was hilarious!

(SPAIN was added in pencil somewhere along the line)

Have to say our post has been very slow over the December January period with mail from UK taking on average 2 weeks to get here using this address -

Villa (Name)
Calle Lago Mayor No ??
La Estancia - Fuerteventura Golf
35.610 - Caleta de Fuste
FUERTEVENTURA
Las Palmas

It looks like the word "Spain" is the key, when we got our S1's last year I was suprised that they arrived in 4 days and on checking the Department of Work & Pensions had put Spain as the last line.

Is there any reason for the dot in your postcode for Caleta?

Not sure Sam, all I can think is that when we bought our villa I must have picked it up from one of the official documents.

The first two digits (ranging 01-52) of Spanish postal code correspond to a province of Spain.

35000 - 35999 are allocated to Las Palmas province.

I don't think the dot , ie 35.000, is commonly used but it's easy to see how it could be.

The third digit is used to identify major cities or basic itineraries with a 0 (zero) denoting a province capital. All FV codes start 356, Lanza 355, Las Palmas itself 350.

The fourth and fifth digits are delivery areas/route itineraries.

Sending post to Fuerteventura, using GC or Las Palmas instead of Spain is risky business IMHO. Once out of the country of origin (in Spain), GC or Las Palmas become much more important.  Huh

Where is Dublin ? Can't find it in India.

C/ Leon y Castillo 45, 2º, 3ª
35600 Puerto del Rosario

The 2º means segundo (tercer piso) or third floor.
The 3ª means tercera puerta or second door - apartment number.

Speaking the first line of this sample address out loud you would say “Calle Leon y Castillo, cuarenta y cinco, segundo, tercera”.

I assume you have the interpretation of those numbers the wrong way around Sam. Something doesn’t fit 😁😁

I noticed it has been a while since someone has posted on this thread so here goes with my post.

My wifes sister was due to arrive with us in Caleta from Scotland on 14th March 2020 one day before lockdown and as we expected the flights never took off. She had a few things for us that she had bought for us in the UK in her suitcase so decided to post the parcel which was sent on 17th March 2020 and as of today it still hasn't arrived, gutted to say the least. She also posted my  wife a birthday card on 14th April 2020 and it arrived on the 30th 16 days to get here, so post is defo getting through.

What are everyones thoughts in this parcel lying somewhere. It wasn't sent tracked unfortunately.

How big was the parcel and was it sent Air mail or surface? If surface it could be waiting for a ferry from the mainland to the Canaries.

Card was possibly sent air mail.
