From LineasRomero blog:

The sailors of Corralejo have the Virgen del Carmen as their patron saint, and they entrust themselves to it when they go out to the sea. Every year, on July 16, the fishermen carry out a procession by the land and the sea in a tribute to the saint to ask for her protection.
Their devotion was so strong, that at the beginning of the 20th century, a small monument of the Virgin was constructed on a hill, visible from the sea.

The celebration begins with a religious service. At first, the Virgin is carried through the streets of the town, accompanied by locals and settlers, and then it's brought to the bay and into a ship that will sail around the coast followed by a marine procession of many boats. The music, traditional outfits and folk dances of this town are lively during the procession.

Tamara - Not sure what the processions etc will be like this year due to COVID precautions.

Got caught out today with 'Puerto' being closed so I had a look at the BOC. I've trawled through and found all (I think) local holidays for Fuerte:

ANTIGUA.

8 de septiembre: Festividad de Nuestra Señora de Antigua.
BETANCURIA.

If anyone needs to know dates for the other islands' municipalities this is the BOC link:

I made a Calendar with all dates a few weeks ago, with the plan to share.
But then forgot about it Big Grin

Not sure if we can do Iframe Embeds here...

Code:
<iframe src="https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=c_thasajkuef4i9ucb37dhnbof6c%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Atlantic%2FCanary" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

But here is an ugly formated google link:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/emb...c%2FCanary

Holidays for each region are included, as well and national ones.
Names of holidays are in Spanish and English

If you are a google user, you can add this Calendar to yours, which will keep it up to date and allow you to set notifications etc...
