Puerto del Rosario beaches - Rescue and Lifeguard services

The City Council of Puerto del Rosario, through the Contracting area, has put out to tender the contracting of the surveillance, rescue, lifeguard and beaconing service for the beaches of Puerto Lajas, Playa Blanca, Playa de los Pozos and Playa de los Molinos and thus provide them with security throughout the year, complying with the provisions of Decree 116/2018, of July 30, of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, in relation to the sea and its beaches.
 
The provision of the service, promoted by the Department of Beaches directed by Sonia Álamo, covers the prevention and health care of accidents and incidents to which users of these beaches are exposed to the limit of the marked area, as well as the beaconing of the beach, seeking to cover human resources, as well as materials, the beaches of the municipality in which there is the Rescue and Lifeguard Plan throughout the year, covering all beach seasons with a continuous service from Monday to Sunday, including holidays.
The low season starts every May 1 until October 31, whose lifeguard schedule will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the low season will be covered from November 1 to April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The basic tender budget of the contract amounts to the total amount of 959,991.50 euros, with IGIC included, for a duration of two years from the formalization of the act of beginning of the service, which may be extended annually for another two years, leaving a maximum duration of four years.
The mayor of the municipality, Juan Jiménez, stressed "the importance of providing the best service on the beaches of our municipality, which guarantee the safety and tranquility of users and tourists, and our priority will continue to be to offer safe beaches every day of the year".
For its part, the Councilor for Contracting, Peña Armas, stressed that "we have managed to get this contract with the largest economic endowment in recent years, demonstrating with facts that the safety of our beaches is our priority, in addition to that it will generate many direct jobs, generating employability and local economy".
Sonia Álamo, Councilor for Beaches and Tourism, thanks "the work done by the municipal technicians who have worked in this process and for the effort made to be able to get this municipal service in a timely manner", and added that "we are firmly committed to safety on our beaches. Hence, since the beginning of the legislature we have launched a series of improvements in them, such as the installation in 2021 of three new surveillance and rescue turrets on the beach of Los Pozos and Playa Blanca, in addition to this important contract to provide them with security and surveillance throughout the year. "
Companies interested in submitting their bids to the tender may do so until May 9 electronically through the Public Sector Contracting Platform.

New lifeguard equipment for the beaches of the capital.

Three new watchtowers, three public address systems, beaconing material and 30 meters of blue walkway to facilitate access to the sea for PRM people.
The mayor of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, and the Councilor for Beaches and Tourism, Sonia Álamo, visited this Friday the beach of Puerto Lajas and the 'Bikini' area of Playa Blanca, where new lifeguard and rescue material has recently been incorporated such as two watchtowers in each of them, as well as another on the beach of Los Pozos.

 

Three public address systems have also been installed, different material for beach beaconing, as well as the incorporation of 30 meters of blue walkway in each of the beaches to facilitate access to the sea for PRM (reduced mobility) people.

 

In the words of the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, "we continue working on the objective of continuing to project the image of safe, clean beaches with an outstanding endowment of equipment and infrastructures as this municipality deserves".

 
The Councilor for Beaches, Sonia Álamo, stresses that "from the Department that I manage we have firmly committed to safety on our beaches. Hence, since the beginning of the legislature we have launched a series of improvements in them, such as the installation in 2021 of three new watchtowers and rescue for the beach of Los Pozos and Playa Blanca, added to these three new ones that we have incorporated in recent days, in addition to another series of improvements undertaken in terms of improving accessibility and the incorporation of the OneUp Rescue devices, among others, that complete the great investment that has been made in terms of beaches, in addition to the important hiring that was made of 12 lifeguards to provide the beaches with security and surveillance throughout the year. "
