Busy at Mercadona yesterday, Lidl and Spar not as busy, controls at all three were good, Mercadona probably the best I was 22nd in the queue to get in and it took 7 minutes to get to the front.

Hi John,
Doesn’t look like much social distancing there, or is it just the angle of the pic ? 😁😁 Hope you are all ok & enjoying the sun 😷😷

Angle of the picture, the floor is marked at 2mts spaces.

We are safe and well here, much better that back in Cumbria, an interesting stat I found yesterday morning 8/4 - Fuerteventura population 116,000 - 36 cases of COVID 19 with 18 already recovered and of the current active cases only 3 in hospital & importantly NO deaths , Cumbria population 499,000 - 804 cases and as at April 4th 70 deaths.

So much safer here on Fuerteventura

I think the big question is how many people have been tested on Fuerteventura and as well how many through self isolation have come through without needing to be tested.

Stay safe everybody

The last reported figure, earlier this week, was 300. The Spanish government's projection is that 15 of every 16 persons infected remain undetected. That suggests that our figure may be closer to 600. Make of that what you will.

I've just been reading an online article in Murcia today, that says nonessential services can resume on Monday, that's stuff like construction, not bars/restaurants or other retail shops. Haven't been able to verify this elsewhere yet.

I think it's probably similar to the article that was in El Pais earlier in the week where they'd misinterpreted the government decree that was ending this weekend on the 11th. That was subsequently extended to the 26th April. I doubt there will be any non essential works going on this side of May at the very best.

Tamara, I think you are correct. The additional law, introduced last week up until tomorrow has not been renewed and by definition those businesses can resume on Monday

"Updated 6pm, 8/4: Tomorrow, the “lockdown extra” law regulating recoverable paid leave for employees whose services are not deemed essential, and who are therefore required to remain at home to reduce public movement during the covid19 outbreak, comes to an end. The measure was only put in place until 9 April because from tomorrow Easter bank holidays mean businesses closing in any case, and then there’s the weekend. And so, the measures are really going to be obviously lifted from Monday.
The measures were based on scientific recommendations about flattening the curve, and they seem to have been effective in that respect and so will not be renewed. Please be very clear that this is the “lockdown extra” law, NOT the State of Emergency, which remains in place, and indeed will be extended to the end of 25 April after being approved by Congress tomorrow.
From Monday, therefore, businesses deemed non-essential will be able to reopen but they might not be open to the public. Indeed, since the State of Emergency is going to remain in place we are still restricted on what we can leave the house for in any case. "

If anyone has seen any information that illustrates this law was renewed, please advise the source of the information. Thank you.

The last couple of posts could do with a definitive list of what can and can't operate from Monday and what retail outlets we as general public can or can't go to.

I picked up on TV last night that back in the UK Tesco seem to have implemented a one way system once in the store, that is the one thing that has surprised me about the supermarkets here is that they haven't done the same as you get customers going either way up and  down the isles and therefore not the 2mts apart and then you get someone stood on their mobile in the middle of an isle very frustrating  Angry Angry Angry
