Released in June last year, Las noches de Tefía had already been awarded at an international level for making visible a reality of the LGTBIQ+ collective that until then had not been counted as the winner of the MIPCOM Diversity TV Awards in the screenplay category.



Created by Miguel del Arco, playwright, screenwriter, stage director, actor and one of the most influential voices on the theatre scene in our country, Las noches de Tefía narrates one of the most unknown episodes in our history: the Francoist concentration camp that existed between the 50s and 60s in Fuerteventura where those convicted by the Law of Vagrants and Criminals were imprisoned.



The series, already complete on the Atresmedia platform, continues to receive praise and this Thursday received the prestigious American GLAAD for best Spanish-language series.



Las noches de Tefía was filmed in natural locations in Tenerife and Madrid. The large cast of the series is made up of Marcos Ruiz (Airam/La Bambi), Patrick Criado (La Vespa), Miquel Fernández (Charli), Israel Elejalde (Don Anselmo), Roberto Álamo (La Viga), Jorge Perugorría (Airam), Carolina Yuste (Nisa), Raúl Prieto (Boncho), Javier Ruesga (La Sissi), Luifer Rodríguez (La Pinito), Jorge Usón (Conde Fénix), Mingo Ávila (La Rata), Jorge Yumar (Perico), Ana Wagener (Agueda), Ciro Miró (Carlavilla), José Luis García-Pérez (El Andaluz), José Luís de Madariaga (La Vespa), Celeste González (La Sissi), Horacio Colomé (Carlos), Maykol Hernández (Miguel), Isaac dos Santos (Caranabo), José Gimeno (Don Bernabé), Elisa Cano (Nisa) and Ruth Trujillo (Claudia), among others.



Las noches de Tefía is produced by Buendía Estudios Canarias with the participation of Atresmedia Television. The fiction, which can be seen exclusively on atresplayer, Sonia Martínez as executive producer and Montse García as director of Fiction at Atresmedia. Miguel del Arco and Antonio Rojano wrote the screenplay and Miguel del Arco and Rómulo Aguillaume are in charge of directing.



The technical team is made up of highly prestigious professionals such as Marta Miró as Production Director, Jon Aguirresarobe and Iván Caso as Director of Photography, Coque F. Lahera as Head of Sound, César Macarrón as Art Director, Sandra Espinosa as Costume Designer, Paty López Lopez as Head of Makeup and Paco Rodríguez as Head of Hairdressing. Arnau Vilà has signed the OST and Antonio Ruz has created the choreography. Conchi Iglesias is the casting director.



The original soundtrack by Buendía Estudios Canarias is composed by Arnau Vilà, whose career has always been linked to the world of television; in fact, he is the musical director of Tu cara me suena, a program on Antena 3. The Catalan musician has also stood out for his compositions and theatre productions such as "Richard III", "Antigone and Pilgrims" and "Refuge".



Las noches de Tefía is also available outside Spain through the international version of atresplayer.



About "The Nights of Tefía"



Between 1954 and 1966 there was, in a desert area of Fuerteventura, a Francoist concentration camp known by the euphemistic name of Colonia Agrícola Penitenciaria de Tefía, one of the many places where the regime sent those convicted by the law of vagrants and criminals that, from 1954, was implemented to also include homosexuals.



The Tindaya

In order to survive the harsh conditions of the concentration camp, the prisoners' imaginations are fired and in their minds they will create a dreamlike place where their greatest fantasies are fulfilled and their desires come true: The Tindaya.



Charli, the fantastic storyteller, invented El Tindaya for all of them, a dazzling music hall where everyone has their alter ego. A space of freedom in which, as its welcome theme says, "the limit of what is possible bursts when imagining".



2004



In 2004, Airam Betancor, one of those homosexual prisoners, is forced to recall the seventeen months of forced labor he suffered in Tefía when he was barely twenty years old. The investigations of a documentary filmmaker who tries to give voice to the history of silence of the penal colony force Airam to do a painful memory exercise that will cause many problems in his life.
