The Corporation subsidizes with €92,083.32 the expenses related to the care and temporary shelter of people in a situation of social exclusion
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Ministry of Social Action, directed by Víctor Alonso, signs an agreement with the Modern Christian Mission, in accordance with this year's budget, to provide temporary shelter to people who are in a situation of social exclusion. The aim is to improve the quality of life of people living on the streets or in uninhabitable houses who do not have any resources to access, thus recognising their dignity and offering them the possibility of normalising their lives.
The program, called "Casa de Acogida" has the capacity to serve 45 places and the "Guaguaseo" another 40 people in need, and both will be developed by Misión Cristiana Moderna which contributes €8,476.82 to which is added a subsidy of €92,083.32 by the Island Corporation to cover the costs of personnel, supplies and activities related to the temporary reception of these people.
During the signing of the agreement, the island's president, Lola García, explained that "the top priority of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura is to work for people, contributing everything in our power to support initiatives that guarantee their well-being, especially vulnerable people".
The Minister of the Island Area, Víctor Alonso, has pointed out that "it is a public responsibility to guarantee the right of all citizens to social services, facilitating their access to them, and especially when they are aimed at avoiding and overcoming, together with other elements of the public Social Welfare system, the situations of need and social marginalization that some individuals present. groups and communities."
