The Vaccination Programme
#81
Usual notice is the day before, sometimes 2 days before.  If you can't make the precise time, don't worry, just turn up as near as possible (eg 10.00 am appointment, just arrive anytime in the morning).  As long as your name is on the list, you will get in.

I am aware of someone who didn't get a second appointment, so they went to ask why.  The phone number recorded had two numbers transposed.

Tom.

My understanding is that both Pajara and Tuineje were also offering the jab to over 16,s given the powers that be seem to be laying the blame for the increases on the younger generation, I would be interested to know ay figures on the uptake of these vaccinations.

It would be interesting to see the uptake by young people as they are being blamed for the big rise in cases.

Figures for the whole of the Canaries show that 1 in 4 of those between 20-29 years old have had one vaccine.
https://noticiasfuerteventura.com/fuerte...ACjtVgaH_Y

The complete  figures (a Google translation):

One in four young people between the ages of 20 and 29 has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has administered 2,225,828 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 of the 2,391,710 received, which represents 93.06 percent. During the past week, from July 12 to 18, 149,152 vaccines have been inoculated.

In the Archipelago there are already 1,335,087 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, that is, 68.09 percent of the target population, which has been increased by including in the National Vaccination Strategy against COVID-19 to the population over 12 years of age. For this reason, 215,178 people included in the age group of 12 to 15 years have been added to the statistic, so that now the target population of the Canary Islands amounts to 1,960,774 people. Taking as reference the population over 16 years of age, 71.36 percent had been vaccinated.

In addition, until yesterday the immunization of 996,505 people who have already received the complete vaccination schedule against the Coronavirus had been achieved, which represents 50.82 percent of the target population over 12 years of age in the Canary Islands.

The vaccination schedule is developed by the target population groups to which it is directed and by available vaccine destined for each age group according to the National Vaccination Strategy. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each basic health zone are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends, prioritizing continuing with the maximum coverage of each age group, without the vaccination process being paralyzed on any island .

Group coverage

After immunization with two doses of groups 1 and 2 (those corresponding to residents and workers of social health centers and first-line health professionals), vaccination continues with the rest of the groups established following the criteria of vulnerability and exposure.

It should be noted that group 4, that of large household dependents, is 78.21 percent immunized with the two doses. Regarding group 5, made up of people over 66 years old who are not residents in nursing homes, there are already 272,230 people who have received the two doses, that is, 93.95 percent, while it has been completed to one hundred percent vaccination with a dose of this group, made up of 289,753 people.

Group 3 is already one hundred percent with one dose and 82.16 percent with two doses; and group 6, made up of 55,000 people, which includes teachers, firefighters and policemen, 94.66 percent have at least one dose and 91.23 percent are already immunized.

Vaccination coverage has also been completed with a dose of group 7, which includes the population under 60 years of age at risk of severe COVID-19, since 12,393 people have been vaccinated, while 84, 60 percent of this group has already received the two doses.

For their part, 121,432 people between the ages of 60 and 65 who make up group 8 have already received a dose, which represents 79.64 percent of that group; while 51.04 percent already have immunization. Regarding group 9, made up of people between 50 and 59 years old, 89.88 percent have already received a dose.

The immunization of group 10, which includes people between the ages of 40 and 49, has also progressed so that 177,034 people, 54.97 percent have already received both doses. As for group 11, made up of people between 30 and 39 years old, 133,140 people, 47.90 percent already have at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and 13.84 percent are already immunized.

For its part, group 12, made up of people between 20 and 29 years old, already has coverage with a dose of 24.42 percent, which represents 61,482 vaccinated people.

Regarding group 13, made up of adolescents between 12 and 19 years old, there are already 8,388 people who have received a dose of the vaccines, 4.67 percent of the target population of this age group.

If this is correct, and I have no reason whatsoever to doubt it, where are all the new cases coming from? there are more new cases daily now than before we started the vaccination program, are we to assume that they are coming from the younger generation not eligible for vaccination, or the selfish among us that risk their lives and that of others by refusing to be vaccinated?

I think it's the latter, John. People not being careful and the ones who are in hospital are unvaccinated according to press reports.

I have just read an article concerning people vaccinated in The Archipelago,  brief details below:-

95%+ of the total population are vaccinated I have just read an article concerning people vaccinated in The Archipelago,  brief details below:-

All residents are apparently split into groups

Groups 1-7 contain the over 65,s people deemed vulnerable caregivers  medical staff etc of which 99% are fully vaccinated.
The other groups { and I have rounded the figures up or down slightly and all figures are %]

Fully vaccinated     have received one Jab.   not vaccinated
8 - 30-35 year olds          52                             20                              18

55-59                             95                               0                               5

40-59                             60                            18                               22

30-39                             58                              6                               34

20-29                             53                               6                              41

12-19                             61                             12                               27

Interesting that the largest group not vaccinated are the  20 to 39 age groups, I vaguely remember being in that age group, and I also thought at the time that I was immortal Rolleyes Rolleyes Rolleyes
Now I consider waking up in the morning a win
