Puerto del Rosario woke up on Monday with the unpleasant news of an act of vandalism caused over the weekend to the new digital screen with tourist information located on the maritime avenue of Los Pozos, which was destroyed with stones, according to the capital corporation.
This LED screen is considered "of great importance at the informative level for both the population and tourists" and was installed just two months ago by the capital city council, through its Department of Tourism, and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, with a cost of more than € 27,000, has moved the institution.
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario regrets the irresponsibility demonstrated, condemning these "acts of vandalism" that threaten public furniture, owned by all, and is making an effort to try to find the person or persons responsible for this intolerable action, for which it will have to face a large fine for attacking the citizen's heritage.
From the Department of Tourism, directed by Sonia Álamo, the urgent arrangement of said digital screen is being processed with the company awarded the contract so that they solve it as soon as possible.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, on behalf of the local corporation, has insisted that "those who destroy public property should know that their actions will have consequences" and has made a citizen appeal to denounce this type of behavior when they are detected.
The Councilor for Tourism, Sonia Álamo, regrets that "from the City Council and the Department of Tourism that I direct, we work tirelessly to advance in terms of tourism digitalization that complements the information that tourists can find from the municipality in other supports, and then uncivil acts of this type happen, demonstrating irresponsibility before the urban furniture that belongs to all of us who live here and those who visit us.
