Volcanic activity in Canary Islands 2021
Posted by Cabildo de La Palma an hour ago.

We continue at yellow light and while working to ensure the safety of people at all times. It is important to be foreseeable in case a possible evacuation is necessary:
1 ️⃣ The people with special conditions would be the first evacuated and would go to the El Fuerte Aquartement, accompanied by a family member
2 ️⃣The rest of the people would come to the Municipal Stadium of Los Llanos, the Municipal Estadio de El Paso, the Municipality of the Villa de Mazo and the Volcano Center of Fuencaliente.

The document, of a preventive nature, plans all the actions to be carried out to guarantee greater efficiency and transmit peace of mind to the population.

The plan establishes collection points, transfer of people, meeting points and shelters, as well as attention to pets and farm animals

Together with the municipalities of Fuencaliente, Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso, Villa de Mazo and Tazacorte, the Council for Security and Emergencies of the Cabildo de La Palma has drawn up an evacuation plan with the aim of having all the necessary actions planned and coordinated in the event that the traffic light, currently yellow, changes to orange and it is necessary to evacuate to different areas of the municipalities that could be affected by a major seismic activity.

The document contemplates preventive measures and technical and human resources, locates collection and meeting points, while defining facilities where people could be accommodated, with the sole objective of transmitting tranquility and security to the population.

Specifically, the evacuation plan has established different collection points in each neighborhood, marked by posters, for people who do not have their own means to go to the meeting points. The collection points will have a transportation system, through the insular bus company, which already has a special operation.

The meeting points established are, in the case of Los Llanos de Aridane, Villa de Mazo and El Paso, that meeting point will be the municipal soccer field, while in Fuencaliente it will be the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Center. People who reside in La Bombilla (Tazacorte) and who have their own means of transportation, must travel to the Los Llanos de Aridane or El Paso soccer field.

At the meeting points there will be personnel from the Canary Islands Health Service and the Red Cross, who will carry out a triage and assessment to decide on their possible referral to the authorized shelters.

In the case of domestic animals, it will be the responsibility of their owners and a space for these animals will be enabled in the different shelters. There is also an agreement with the College of Veterinarians to provide adequate care if necessary, while those who have animals should contact the Agricultural Extension Agency of the Cabildo de La Palma by phone through 922 42 31 00 transfer their animals to the enclosures cattle fair in El Paso and San Isidro (Breña Alta).

To request information, you can contact CECOPIN by calling 922 43 46 50.

The Evacuation Plan (PLEVAPAL) is developed following the frame of reference established by the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Attention to Emergencies due to volcanic risk in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (PEVOLCA).

Although it will be applied in those municipalities directly affected by seismovolcanic activity, it also includes the rest of the island territory because all the neighboring municipalities and the rest of the island are a fundamental part of the support, logistics and infrastructure support.

Update by Enrique courtesy of Efemérides Meteorológicas Canarias

A slight reactivation of seismic activity under the terrestrial crust of La Palma warns the entire island's population and especially those in the western region.
During the night, just under half a hundred small earthquakes were re-recorded, leaving records between 1,2 and 2 mbLg, according to the National Geographic Institute, but also others who exceeded 3 degrees.
These more intensity are concentrated in El Paso and Tazacorte, although the strip of small earthquakes also extends to Fuencaliente and Villa de Mazo
Severe alarm? Destructive Danger? :
From volcanism in the Canary Islands is often said to have not been particularly harmful, but that expression depends on where the focus is: if it's in lives, the Canary Islands ′′ only ′′ volcanoes have killed 24 people in six centuries.
But if you were to ask the neighbours of Lanzarote of the th century for that disaster that covered lava and ashes a quarter of the island, Timanfaya's eruption, or his Tenerife coetanuses for the burning laundry that covered the port of Garachico , then the most important on the island, probably the answer was very different.

Translated.

RECIPE IS FINISHED AND THE WARMING REACTIVES AGAIN, THE MAGMA INDICATED TO MOVE AGAIN. A 3.2 Earthquake this early morning very somero with an assigned depth of 100 m (and a 3 km error) what has been the signal that has given the swarm to tell us that it has broken something between 100 and 3 km that didn't let him move forward, and since then seismicity is on the rise as that broken has been getting bigger and more magma is passing by. In the last two hours it is particularly active with many signs, including one that explained 8-10 Hz gas depressurization.
es2021shkgm 04:26:10 18/09/2021 03:26:10-17.9041 0.1 km M 3.2 mbLg III SE TAZACORT. ILP
To say that this seismicity this afternoon is much more somera than in previous days, with earthquakes or tremors located between 3 and 5 km, which coincides with the observed previous days where magma has been rising and pressurizing without finding many problems.
The deformation on its part has slowed down as logical as the system pressurized (took pressure) and the magma was not moving to finally break the rock by standing in a lifting around 10-11 cm in the vertical.
Add that this 3.2 is in the coastal zone and that seismicity continues to migrate to the NW, increasing the chances of opening a mouth near the coast or on the same coast, with the danger that this entails by the interaction that would be generated with seawater. It would be a Hydromagmatic with quite ash, for which the archipelago is unprepared. So it wouldn't be too quick to prepare for ash, with all the recommendations that comes with it.
And if there is an eruption, how will it be? Like 1949 or like 1971? Not known, but the 1971 was smoother and basaltic, with little ash, while the 1949 was more violent, not only because of seismicity but because of the large number of ashes emitted in the summit zone. Until it starts we won't know for sure, but if I can tell you that knowing what he did in the past we can prepare. Enrique
