What's the weather like? - February 2020
The sky has turned yellow, so there's a lot of sand in the air.  It's one of the worst Calimas that there has been for sometime.  22 degrees with an increasing wind.

The airport in Gran Canaria is now closed due to the dense calima there.
It's a bit clearer here in Caleta de Fuste now.

I heard Tenerife North & South airports had to close as well.

Tindaya - it has been grotty all day with the worst being lunchtime/early afternoon. Visibility has been almost zero at times.

Morning from Caleta, I think enough has been said about yesterday already  Sad Sad Sad not going to bother cleaning outside until possibly Tuesday

Unless for a change I slept very well I don't think the wind has been as strong as forecast, there were a few gusts that rattled the awnings during the evening.

This morning at 7.15am it is 16C, breezy but not windy, light haze to the set and south west but out to the the east it is very grey and viability is poor.

Today's Caleta forecast -

THERE IS STILL A Weather WARNING IN PLACE FOR STRONG WINDS, DUST AND ROUGH SEAS FOR SUNDAY AND STRONG WINDS & DUST FOR MONDAY

Hazy sunshine all day, shade temperature at 23C from midday to 7pm with a 24C peak at 4pm, the UV factor will get to 5 /6 11am to 2pm.

Wind from the the NE all day at 22 to 28 KMph with gusts up to 35 KMph.

On the BBC Weather site they are forecasting a sand storm from 2pm to 10pm !!!

El Cotillo... The forecast is for a blustery day, with a mix of sun and cloud. Temperatures expected in the low to mid 20's. The easterly wind will be very strong and offshore, occasional gusting at gale force (39-54mph). When out and about yesterday I didn't measure anything above 32mph.

Tides:
High Tide     1:20am  2.34 m (7.68ft)
Low Tide      7:35am  0.18 m (0.59ft)
High Tide     1:39pm  2.18 m (7.15ft)
Low Tide      7:40pm  0.22 m (0.72ft)

First Light     7:01am
Sunrise         7:24am
Sunset          6:52pm
Last Light      7:16pm

8.30am. The wind seems to have eased. Still very hazy with calima. Temperature 20c.

Not a common sight in Cotillo

The calima has got thicker as the morning has gone on, so visibility is reduced. 23 degrees at 12.15.
