Cute little lacewings around today - just love their eyes! The green body was about 1cm long.

and quite a few big beetles, unfortunately the only one that stayed put while I fetched my phone was dead.  Cry He/she was about 2 inches long.

and of course the ubiquitous lizard.

Couple of IDs needed today please.

The first was this insect, about 2 inches long. It sounded just like a pesky fly but louder.

The second is a bird of prey. I don't know the difference between kestrels, hawks etc. This one didn't come very close but it appeared to have rusty colouring.

Finally a plea! Several years ago, through the 'other' forum, someone kindly sent me a pamphlet/booklet electronically that they had complied re the birds here and another one that I seem to recall was butterflies. Does this ring bells with anyone? Has anyone got copies? Unfortunately I appear to have mislaid mine - I do recall struggling with it as the layout wasn't compatible with my programmes but it was still very useful. Thanks in hope. Fingers Crossed
