I normally go swimming every day but for around the last week I’ve noticed something unusual that’s spooked me a bit. The swell looks quite typical for this time of year but when you’re in the water the currents are much stronger and the water is strangely choppy. I think it might have something to do with the direction of the swell. There have been a couple of times where I’ve not gone in. It could easily catch out someone who might not be familiar with the water they’re swimming in. Probably just want to cool off. Very sad to hear about. I think there should be more warnings from Holiday reps etc, at the airport and even on the flight. The sea in Winter can be so unpredictable and dangerous.

I'm not sure the reps could do much. I've seen people ignore the life guards who are standing right there on the beach.

True, you can’t do much about ignorance but highlighting the danger ‘could’ save a life. I’m sure there are holidaymakers totally unaware of how dangerous the sea is, especially in Winter.
