A man has died with symptoms of drowning on a beach in Fuerteventura on Thursday morning. Specifically, the event occurred in Playa del Moro, in the municipality of La Oliva. The victim hit the rocks after jumping into the water to help a minor in distress who left by her own means on Playa del Moro
The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received at 9.54 a.m. the alert from the rescue service on the beaches of La Oliva informing that its personnel were on their way to the area where a bather in distress at sea was being rescued.
The 112 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
Lifeguards reported that they had managed to pull an unconscious person from the water with symptoms of drowning and who had hit the rocks due to the sea conditions in the area. This person had entered the water to get a minor who was in distress and finally managed to get out unharmed by her own means.
The Local Police were in charge of picking up the medical team from the health center and transferring it to the scene of the incident, where Civil Protection, the Red Cross, and the Civil Guard also intervened
The cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers practiced by the health teams on the affected person who was in cardiorespiratory arrest did not work, so they could only confirm his death.
Security forces instructed the corresponding proceedings.
In this operation, a medicalized ambulance and basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), Primary Care personnel: a doctor and a nurse from the Corralejo health center, Local Police and Civil Guard were activated.
