A Not So Funny Story About My Car
#1
After over 40 days of waiting for parts my car has been repaired by JLR in Las Palmas and I am going over to pick it up tomorrow.

My Range Rover on Feb 21st gave me an engine malfunction message as we were driving to PDR, got back to the villa ok but had to get Land Rover Assist to pick it up and take to Pelican the JLR dealer in Las Palmas. It turned out that a rodent had built a nest using body work insulation material under the engine cover and chewed through a multicore cable and fuel pipe. The parts to do the repair only arrived last Friday so after waiting over 40days the repair and tests will be completed today.

Not surprised to hear about your story. When I lived in Almeria the rats were eating almonds using the top of the engine as a table and a rabbit made itself comfortable in a cranny under the bonnet. Over there I heard of lots of damage caused by rats gnawing cables. Here so far so good, touching wood.

We had this in Germany during a trip we made, our car stood near a forest for a night. Next day we could not get away and had to wait for 2 days to get the right parts delivered. Seems there's fish oil in the cables. Different kind of small animals go after the smell and start chewing on it.

Hopefully, everything's back to normal now and you can hit the road.

That’s a serious wait—over 40 days is rough! I had a similar issue with my car once; a squirrel decided to make a nest under the hood and chewed through some wires. It’s wild how these little creatures can cause so much damage. Just be sure to check things out regularly now; you don’t want any surprises.

All ok now, and I have a sonic deterrent near the car and check under the bonnet daily. The wait for parts is affecting many manufactures.

I’ve had my fair share of car troubles, and waiting for parts is a horror.
