As you would expect there was a big drop in passengers through Fuerteventura airport during March.

253,725 people (Arrivals and Departures) passed through the airport which is a 50% drop compared to March last year.

All Spanish airports have suffered between a 50% and 60% drop.

Surprised it wasn't lower— expect a lot of that is people trying to get home.

April will, I suspect, be a disaster.

The restrictions on passenger traffic imposed to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the activity of Canary Islands airports in April to 1% of normal: 38,731 passengers compared to 3,801,979 in the same month of 2019 .

Aena published Wednesday's air traffic data for April, the first full month with the state of alarm restrictions in force, particularly strict in the case of the Canary Islands, whose Government expressly requested that the movements of people be limited to the return of residents. and causes of force majeure.

The eight airports on the islands noticed this with air traffic drop of between 96.4%, the least (El Hierro), and 100%, the most (La Gomera).
In total, the islands' airports managed 2,591 operations (landings and takeoffs) this April, compared to 34,341 in 2019, 92.4% less.
On average, these figures indicate that during the month of April there were only 86 daily flights to the Canary Islands (including arrivals and departures), with 1,291 passengers per day.

By airports, passenger traffic in April was as follows: 15,650 travelers in Gran Canaria (-98.6%), 9,253 in Tenerife North-La Laguna (-98.1%), 4,709 in Tenerife South (-99.5 %), 3,142 in Lanzarote-César Manrique (-99.5%), 3,026 in Fuerteventura (-99.4%), 2,205 in La Palma (-98.3%), 746 in El Hierro (-96.4% ) and zero in La Gomera (-100.0%).

As expected there was a 98% drop in passenger numbers (arrivals and departures) through Fuerteventura airport in May 2020 compared to May 2019. The figure was 6,485. This is in line with all other Spanish airports where there has been a 98 or 99% drop in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year.

And to be fair Cpt. the numbers had been decreasing in 2019 compared to previous years, possibly because some other Countries had started taking tourists back at much lower prices than the Canaries.
