Radio Sintonia:
Investigated for alleged animal abuse in Fuerteventura.
The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura is investigating a 56-year-old person for his participation in a crime of animal abuse. The defendant had isolated four horses and a donkey on a cattle farm in terrible hygienic and sanitary conditions, all of them presenting severe thinness, possibly caused by poor nutrition.

The SEPRONA patrol of Puerto del Rosario acted immediately upon learning through citizen collaboration of the existence of several equids that could be at risk due to extreme thinness in a place known as Tirba Mountain, belonging to the municipality of Tuineje.
However, the Civil Guard knew the facts, but not the exact location of the place, which led to a specific search device that made it possible to locate a livestock farm in which five equids were found presenting clear signs of malnutrition, terrible conditions of abandonment and without receiving any type of veterinary care; taking a record of what was observed.
In view of this circumstance, SEPRONA asked the administration for the urgent collaboration of a veterinary professional, in order to be able to diagnose or, where appropriate, treat the injuries or diseases presented by the equids.
The animals, after being evaluated by the veterinarian, determined that due to the omission of care and serious health condition that one of them presented, he had to be euthanized to avoid unnecessary suffering, since he presented an absence of reaction to external stimuli, extreme weight loss, cachectic, serious deterioration in general and extreme weakness. This situation is irreversible and incompatible with life.
The rest of the equids, after the Police action, were seized and deposited as a precautionary measure in The Animal Academy shelter, for care and recovery, leaving them at the disposal of the judicial authority.
