Hi All,
Used Autoreisen and PlusCar countless times over the years. This time considering Payless and would like to hear from anyone with experience of them. Just want the same as my usual two, reliable decent car, no payment at booking, no hidden extras, no hard sell on the insurance upgrades, no withholding funds on my credit card, and simply return the tank as I find it.
Anyone care to comment on how Payless compares to my usual two ?
Cheers,
Mouse

Tried most of them, but always returned to Pluscar. Good prices, speedy collection and simple return process. Sometimes a new or almost new car, sometimes a little more worn. However, now own a car, so no longer renting.
Tom.

I've never used Autoreisen or Pluscar so I can't comment on their service, but I normally use Payless (numerous times over several years) and I don't bother looking for anyone else. No hassles, no rip-offs, just good clean reliable cars. They've often got a bit of body damage, the odd dent , scratch or scuff mark and they won't be brand new but nothing that would ever give you any cause for concern. I just pay on collection with my bank card and return the car with the fuel tank at the same level - in practice usually with a bit more fuel in it - as with the service I get from them I'm not about to try and be clever and save a couple of euros. I don't know if it makes any difference but I've registered my details on the Payless website which possibly speeds up the booking process a bit and saves me having to type the details in each time.

More than 13 years hiring with Pluscar has come to an end. Last years their communication started to be unreliable, sometimes plain rude. It's getting extremely difficult to make a reservation for a small car, like the Fiat Panda. Pluscar does offer them online, but they're not available. Tried to reservate 6 and 8 months ahead, can't get thru, not available, they say. They push you to take a more expensive one in this way. We're going to take a try with one of the other companies, mentioned in this thread (though Payless offered us once a stinking car full with flees).
Anyone experience with Top Car Hire?

We have never had any issue with Top Car

Cicar are really great. The downside ifs that people know this and at times you have an apparently endless queue at the kiosk, whereas the others only have a few.

I usually use Pluscar, but when I tried to book for a last-minute 9-day visit a couple of weeks ago, Pluscar said they were sold out. I booked with AutoReisen instead, and found them to be helpful and good value. They encourage you to fill in all your passport and licence details online prior to arriving, so time needed at the desk in the airport is minimal. I'd use them again.

Had a good experience with Ecocar earlier this year. Great prices, especially if you book in advance or very close to time when they're just looking to get cars out and in use.

When I’m in Caleta and I only need a car for a few hours or a day or 2 I always eco car now they are near by and very reasonable. If I renting for a pick up at the airport for the week then I rent from plus cars.
