Radio Sintonia:
They denounce "serious damage" due to the works of the Red Eléctrica line from Puerto del Rosario to Gran Tarajal.
Neighborhood complaints warn of serious damage and occupation of land without permits for works that were authorized by the Government of the Canary Islands.
Coalición Canaria in the Cabildo of Fuerteventura informs that it will present a motion by way of urgency in the Plenary of today Friday, to be able to determine the damages that are causing the works of the 132 Kv power line from Puerto del Rosario to Gran Tarajal and, in the event that they are verified, order its precautionary stoppage and settle responsibilities.
For weeks, neighbors of the different affected localities have been warning about the destruction that the works are causing. It should be remembered that the power lines were authorized by the Government of the Canary Islands, contrary to the pronouncements that citizens and institutions have been making for many years.
"Now, citizens and even the municipalities themselves have transferred their complaints to us about the serious environmental deterioration that works are causing that are exceeding the limits set by the authorizations. We are talking about significant damage, opening of unauthorized roads, occupation of land without permission, accumulation of waste or damage to gavias, among others, "says Lola García.
For these reasons, the current heads of the Cabildo must act immediately, in collaboration with the affected municipalities and the Government of the Canary Islands itself. Through this motion, they are urged to launch an inspection to check if the authorizations granted by the autonomous executive are being respected, take legal action if these irregularities are found and even, in that case, demand the precautionary stoppage of the works until the responsibilities are settled. Also send this situation immediately and in writing to the president of the Autonomous Community. "The objective is to address neighborhood complaints and prevent these damages from being consolidated," concludes García.
