As published by 112 Canarias on its website, a drowned man dies on a beach in Fuerteventura.

Assessment of those affected provided by the SUC:

Male about 70 years of age died.
Intervention services activated by CECOES 1-1-2:

Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC): a medicalized ambulance and another for basic life support
Primary Care: doctor and nurse of the Health Center of Corralejo
Beach Rescue
Local Police
Civil Guard
Civil defence
Remarks:

At the time indicated above, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert in which it was communicated that they had taken a person who was in cardiorespiratory arrest out of the water and that they were trying to resuscitate him.
1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
Upon arriving at the place, the staff of the SUC, with the collaboration of the doctor and nurse of the aforementioned health center, verified that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest and began to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without success, so his death was confirmed.
The Local Police and Civil Protection collaborated with the emergency services.
The Civil Guard instructs the corresponding proceedings and takes charge of the body until the arrival of the judicial authority.

Tamara: one of the other news outlets lists the man as aged 47.

Hi Tamara, it was at La Concha Beach and it is being reported he was a 47 year old local man.

La Concha Beach? The safest beach in Cotillo. How the hell could that happen.

From the reports the poor guy had a heart attack.

Re currents La Concha I would be more wary.
I swim there almost daily and with an out going spring tide you can be going OUT through the outer reef in milliseconds.
I am embarrassed to say that even after 11 years here I still get caught and have to head sideways for the rocks.
No criticism intended here, there are a lot of drownings here over and above those that are are not reported and I think the main purpose of living here is to enjoy what the Islands have to offer not to be another statistic.

Yes manned at the moment.
I think it is supposed to be manned ! June to 30 Sept. Depending on budget!!
