Electricity Costs

Now had our November Endesa bill and the charges have definitely been reduced, not sure for how long.

September - Not at Villa and pool time clock not altered to take account of low night tariff

November  - At villa for 17 of the 30 days and pool time clock altered and hot tub only on at weekends.

I've just had my Endesa November charge taken off as well, 114 euros and I was only there for 10 days. It's paper bills so when I'm out next I'll need to have a look at my tariffs in comparison to yours. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I've definitely got a squatter!

I think they may be still having problems with the "new meters"
My bill to the 15th Nov about 30% higher than normal. (We have watched a lot of TV during this cold spell but not that much )
However my consumption  from 15 to 29th, from my online access is virtually zero. something wrong somewhere.

Some good news - copy of an email received from Endesa yesterday -

Dear Customer,

From Endesa Energía we want to be by your side at all times and inform you first-hand of all the news that may affect your electricity bill.

We remind you that the current rate you have contracted from Endesa Energía is in the free market; this means that your prices are not subject to the volatility of prices marked by the wholesale market, where they change every day and every hour.

Since June, your bill has been subject to a series of measures established by the Government that have reduced your electricity bill. These measures were of a transitional nature until 31 December but have been extended until 30 April 2022:

  • The reduction to 0.5% of the general rate of the Special Tax on Electricity is extended (this tax was higher than 5%).
  • The VAT reduction is extended from 21% to 10% for powers less than or equal to 10kW and provided that market prices remain above €45/MWh.

On the other hand, as of January 1, the measure that directly affects the charges and other regulated concepts have been modified in the following aspects:

  • Electricity charges are modified. The charges represented approximately 20%* of your bill. Since September 16, with the measures implemented by the Government, these charges were temporarily reduced by 96%. As of January 1, 2022, the Government has decided to maintain this measure by modifying the reduction in charges to 31%, which implies that your bill is still reduced compared to the previous levels of September 2021.
  • In addition, other regulated concepts are modified that suppose a reduction in your bill of the order of 1%*.

*Calculated for an average customer on the total price (Energy + Power, before taxes). This percentage may vary depending on the consumption profile.

You don't have to worry about anything, we take care of everything. All these measures will be reflected from your next invoice.

Do you prefer to have the peace of mind of having a stable quota, without shocks? We have a solution for you. With Endesa's ÚNICA you can customize your fee so that you pay only for what you really need.

And now, because he is a customer, he enjoys A FREE MONTH FOREVER changing to UNIQUE. Make use of your energy when you need to and do not worry about consumption schedules.

We put at your disposal our entire network of service channels to solve all your doubts

Thank you for continuing to trust us.

Reading the previous post by Windermeregolfer (I’ve not ‘quoted’ as it’s quite lengthy), it’s very interesting. I have a near identical letter but from Energia XXI, a part of Endesa, and my understanding is that domestic Endesa customers were mostly automatically moved to this offshoot last year. In this other posting, it tells the customer that  their prices ‘are in the Free Market’ etc. In MY email, I’m told that my prices ‘are in the regulated market’, with the impression that this is intended for small consumers. One would assume that this would make sense.

However, over the past few months my electricity costs have near-doubled, despite demonstrably reduced consumption and great care in using off-peak!

A recent post on Facebook (yes, I know!) advises that the poster switched from Energia XXI, regulated market, to Endesa, free market, and consequently halved their bills! I struggle to see how this could happen, but it’s not something I’m really familiar with. So…has anyone here made that switch back to Endesa free market? Was it easy to do and, most importantly, did it reduce bills?

My increase is around €80 a month, so for me it’s worth following up!

Costs have escalated!

For example in January 2021 I used 224 kwh and my bill was 50.92 euros.
In January 2022 I used 168 kwh and my bill was 67.21 euros.
