Is it possible to hire an EV or a PHEV or even a standard Hybrid from any of the reputable car hire people?

I'm not sure it is.  Your best bet maybe to email the car hire companies first.  Be careful
some companies are just scam artists Goldcar and Orlando being the worst.  I would use
anyone of the following;  Pluscar, Cicar, Payless and Top car (Autoriesen)

Thanks for that but I’m not new to Fuerteventura and only deal with Payless Es or cicar. Plus car are also ok. There is a lot of sharp practice in that business.
I was just enquiring about the availability of EVs before my next visit.

I've not come across rental EV's.
I think a lack of public charging points could be an issue for car hire companies.

This report from March of last year:

Over the next few months, the current number of electric car charging stations of six will increase to eleven, and to be spread across the island.
Currently, there are only about 30 electric cars driving on the roads of Fuerteventura, but expect soon to see more with this Government discounted price.

I was over a couple of weeks ago and I seen a charging point beside the new bus office outside Caleta complete with car connected up. I think it was a Hyundai Ioniq EV.
A self charging hybrid then would make sense as they are very economical on fuel but probably a bit expensive for the hire companies.

That charging point has been there for around 18 months to 2 years, and I have never seen anybody using it!

but I am sure in the future it will be.
To me drinking responsibly means do not spill it.

Have not seen a single hired electric car on the island in the past few years.

Just to add, there's a nice thread about The best car hire company for anyone interested in car hire, coming to the island for the first time.

We sort of lean towards CiCar or PlusCar. Wasn't happy a couple of times with Payless in the past few months, sent them an email, no reply at all. Voting with my feet for now. Still would use them if I had to choose between Payless and Goldcar/Orlando.

You're probably the first tourist ever to see an electric/hybrid car charging at the bus station in Caleta. I honestly thought the charging points are not even working.

I've asked at Cicar and PlusCar if I can hire an electric car or any hybrid vehicle and just received a similar reply from both hire companies:

Quote:We inform you that we do not have electric or hybrid cars.

Quote:In Fuerteventura we don't have any electric or hybrid cars at the moment.

I'll try to contact a few more but it doesn't looks promising.
