Mandatory masks from 21st May for anyone six years old and over

You need a mask anywhere where you can not observe the social distances rule, plus inside any shop and in a car if the other passengers are not from the same household.

So, on the beach, walking the street etc, no needed as long as you keep your distance.

Tom.

I am coming over this weekend to finally see our newly purchased property - could someone maybe clarify the use of masks when not in an enclosed space i.e when out walking or on the beach?
I intend to carry one at all times but don't want to get into trouble by not fully understanding what is required or what is usual practice now you have had a few weeks of wearing them.
In the UK it seems normal now to give people distance as you pass by as masks are not mandatory.
Am i correct in thinking you don't need them in cars if all passengers are from the same household?

Thanks for this information, when I click on the picture I only get a very small unreadable image, do you have a bigger version or a link to its origin? I am considering visiting next week so I have been looking around on the web for a concise explanation of the official stance on mask wearing however I have not found much apart from media written advice which I am sceptical of.

*update* apologies, i saw the full version in the earlier post, will pay more attention in future, ignore this (mods please delete if you can, i dont see the option to)

Hello Felipe
I was about to delete your post as requested but then I realised it had useful info so I have left it alone. Lesson to all of us, view the original pic rather than a 'quoted' one if you're having trouble viewing it!
Appreciate the fact that you're taking the trouble to find out what's what before you arrive.  Thumbs Up
Enjoy your visit if you get here  Smile

Having just watched Amelia Bolger it seems once you leave a populated area you can remove your mask? Any clarification? For instance we like a walk round the golf course roads early in the morning and never seem to meet anyone?

An update from Janet Anscombe:

Updated 27 OctoberWith the return of British visitors it seems a good time to update this post about masks. Please also note that in addition to the information below, it has since been confirmed that while Fabric masks are legal, anyone attending a hospital or doctor’s surgery must wear one of the types below, specifically of the hygenic or surgical type from a chemist or sanitary provisions supplier.
The Policía Nacional has confirmed that they are policing this as a requirement to wear a mask in all public spaces, indoors and out, at work, and on the beach and around swimming pools – if swimming they can be removed for swimming itself or sunbathing without moving in a designated zone. In catering establishments they can be removed when a plate of food is in front of a customer because eating a meal is a one-off thing. Drinking, however, is different because people can nurse one drink for far longer and so the Police say they will issue fines to anyone doing so. They have specifically said that masks must be replaced between sips of a drink.
Exemptions exist but must be verified in Spanish: the verifiying is done by Police on the spot and they cannot be expected to know English or be able to identify the authenticity of a foreign document. A medical certificate from a Spanish doctor is required for anyone with a condition that allows them to be exempt from wearing a mask. Please note that face shields are not considered masks: they are sometimes worn by medical personnel in addition to a mask but are not legal for the public to wear as an alternative.
