It is shameful how such an important utility on a desert island can be that badly run. The Puerto del Rosario plant has already had millions spent on a huge capacity and they are now wasting
Money on short term extra-expensive portable desalination modules simply because they have completely mismanaged the
water storage system. Their system of supply is based on having instantaneous capacity to meet
water supply demands and then cutting people off when they can't meet it, it's like the UK not bothering to have reservoirs and just hoping that it rains enough when everyone gets up in the morning to make a cup of tea.....
What justification can they possibly have for not fitting these extra units in places like La Pared where a concentrated urbanised area relies on trucks to bring the
water in every day. They highlight that the next weakness they need to focus on is the distribution network from the desalination plants, but it's as if they don't even recognise that large numbers of urbanised areas don't even have a pipe to connect to the 'distribution network'
Of course this is all at a time when the biggest demand on the
water network isn't even drawing
water, the hotels! If CAAF can't supply enough
water when the huge hotels aren't drawing anything like their normal amounts then someone definitely should be fired....
