Puerto del Rosario will host this Sunday a new Triathlon.
The mayor of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, and the Councilor for Sports, Sonia Álamo, accompanied by Hamir Alonso, from the sports club Functional Team Fuerteventura, Rubén Negrín, from Droben event S.L. and several athletes, presented on Tuesday the Puerto del Rosario Triathlon 2023 that will be held this coming Sunday, April 2, and will be the center of attention of anyone who approaches the idyllic environment of Los Pozos.
An Olympic modality
It is a unique triathlon, scoring within the Canary Triathlon Cup, which will take place thanks to the collaboration of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, through the Department of Sports, the organization of Droben Event and the CD Functional Team Fuerteventura, and the support of Fecantri.
The test, which belongs to the Canary Islands Olympic Triathlon Championship, will be held in Olympic modality and in 3 sports segments: 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of bicycle and 10 km of running.
Prior to this triathlon, an Aquathlon test (swimming + running) will be held for the youngest: 'Aquathlon Kids', for those aged between 7 and 17 years old.
More than 100 triathletes in the 2nd edition
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, "this sporting event once again places Puerto del Rosario as a strategic point for major sporting Events such as this 2nd edition of the Puerto del Rosario Triathlon, in which more than 100 triathletes of different ages will participate, and thanks to which a very lively social atmosphere will be lived with the visit of tourists who will disembark from the Marella Explorer cruise ship that will arrive on same Sunday at the Porto dock".
For Juan Jiménez, "Puerto del Rosario must be constituted as a point where sporting Events of great significance such as this one are held, so I encourage you to participate in this Puerto del Rosario Triathlon 2023 that will be a real success, combining two important areas: sport and tourism, which for us is absolutely essential to be able to promote", Stressed.
For its part, in the words of the Councilor for Sports, Sonia Álamo, "this Sunday we have the triathlon party, a sports festival that will bring together more than 100 adult and small athletes. Therefore, we encourage all those who want to come and participate or encourage our athletes this Sunday in this triathlon event, where the binomial sport and tourism is combined, and is another tourist attraction of our city. "
