Radio Sintonia:

Maleficent actor Sam Riley to film in Fuerteventura.

The municipality of Pájara has been selected by German film director Jan-Ole Gerster as an open-air set to film his latest thriller, which will feature English actor Sam Riley, known for films such as Maleficent, as the protagonist, the city council said in a statement.

The mayor, Alejandro Jorge; the Councilor for Economy, Finance and Social Services, Kathaisa Rodríguez; the Councilor for Sports, José Benito Alonso; and the Councilor for Transportation, José Díaz; who visited the film set to learn the details of the logistics and locations in which work will be done in the coming months. In this sense, some of the selected areas are Cofete, La Pared or Ajuy.

The Government team of the City of Pájara highlighted the importance of international film production companies choosing the municipality to carry out their projects and publicize the uniqueness and beauty of the towns of Pájara.

During the visit, the municipal representatives stressed that Pájara not only has the ideal climate to attract this type of producers, but also unique landscapes in the world. Added to all this are the tax incentives of the Canary Islands for the execution of film projects.

At the meeting, a book dedicated to the history and art of the municipality of Pájara was presented, which was received with gratitude by Jan-Ole Gerster and Sam Riley.

The film, which has Juan Sarmiento as director of photography, will take place in Fuerteventura between October and November. A fact that comes ten years after Jan-Ole Gerster's first visit to the island, during which he was enchanted by its magic, which served as inspiration to write a script that will show Fuerteventura.

The City Council of Pájara wanted to thank the work of the production team and the involvement of the location department directed by Irene Ferarios, with whom it is working in a coordinated way with the aim of facilitating the needs of the team working on the project, who have expressed their interest in continuing to make films in the municipality.

This production will be a precedent to attract more film projects, so that the island and the municipality benefit from this market that will attract great cultural promotion to its citizens.

Tamara: it wasn't until I read this properly and looked at the pic that I realised this is the film that I posted about recruiting extras for a few weeks ago. Filming has already been ongoing since the beginning of the month at the Tres Islas hotel in Corralejo. I should know, I've been doing my bit as an extra. Shows how much I know about the film world though cos I didn't realise Sam was famous - he's been really nice and friendly.
