Superbarato - Chinese shop in Poligono Industrial El Matorral
#11
Probably Chinese Whispers Big Grin  but I was told years ago that these shops were just a means for Money laundering, they weren't bothered whether they actually did any business!

Like this one. From 1.20 to 1.80. Will still be cheaper after the discount but nowhere near the 50%.

I imagine they are well aware that the green price tags are their current ones & yellow are old so if they are on the ball it would be queried anyway. If they were doing right they should have removed all the old price tags

Not necessarily illegal here Ron, certainly in the UK it is and has been for 40 years or more the shop can be fined for every single item "overpriced" in the UK, I was a Manager with Tesco when the law was introduced, and the warnings/threats that went out for any Store Manager caught doing it ranged from immediate dismissal to Hanging, deportation, etc etc. it really but the fear of god into supermarket companies, but who uses price tickets in the UK these days?

Would be a shame to see them go— I love China Town, but you have to either know exactly where the item you want is, or be prepared to give up an hour or two to look. Any time I ask if they have something (in Spanish!), the answer is always no. At least 75% of the time, that's incorrect, they just didn't know where it was— not that you could blame them, considering the size of the place!

Superbarato also had slightly different stock, so it was great to have them both there. Then again, I'm also hoping we get to have both Lidl and a larger Mercadona... I suppose I just like being spoiled for choice!

Some questions, Where are these pallets inside or outside the store? have any gaps appeared in the store itself?
The first picture alone shows in excess of 100 metres of back to back shelving there was certainly not the room for that the last time I was in there, but that was 2/3 months ago if there are no obvious spaces in the store, it could be just spare shelving they had in store and are now selling on, if gaps are appearing it would suggest they are packing up, having said that when we passed last weekend they were unpacking a container which would suggest they are staying, at least for the time being.

Outside. Sorry if that's not clear from the first three pics.

A bit of space in the southern part of the store, see the fourth picture, please.

Or downsizing???
Sorry Sam, but it was not clear to me at first then I realised the photo,s were taken after dark, in the 4th pic it looks to be Xmas stock so maybe they are moving it to store and closing the space off until its needed again, { downsizing ] Anyway we will see.
